I'm not happy with the performance, but it was to be expected. High details guarantee me whopping ~30fps (GTX570/i2500k@4.3Ghz), which would be somewhat okay (PS4-like at least) if only the game didn't look like complete garbage during the daytime. It reminds me of GTA IV, there's no proper lighting at all, it looks baked like when you use some ENB that isn't configured yet. Nighttime, on the other hand is great, even better when it rains (water in general is very well-made in the game).

The enormous problem though, is the fact that mouse controls are broken. They're decent-ish when moving around, but once you start aiming, a weird deceleration effect (+ auto-aiming - that apparently can't be disabled?) pops in ruining all the fun. No bueno at all. Mad

Animations are a mixed bag, but mostly decent; shooting would feel nice if it wasn't for the aforementioned problems; the handling is...not so good, honestly, but not bad either. There's barely no sense of weight in some cars and it's arcadey as hell, but at least the cockpit view is a cool addition that makes it much more enjoyable. Some models drive better than others (the Mustang for example, is quite fun), all in all, I'd say it's better than I expected. The city feels alive enough, hacking is the typical one-button-awesome made in Ubiderp but we already knew that. Razz

Can't comment on the story/missions yet since I'm just dicking around at the moment, but so far it's very "serious-business" oriented. I'm not sure I like the protagonist, he doesn't seem to have much charisma..but it's still the beginning. The game seems good, though.
Here's hoping for a miracle patch to fix the mouse *and* improve the performance a little Okay

You don't need to upgrade. Devs need to stop making shitty ports.

1. Exit the game.
2. Go to C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\My Games\Watch_Dogs\<some odd number>
3. There should be a file named "GamerProfile.xml". Open it in a text editor of your choice.
4. Look for the following settings and change their values respectively:
5. Set "Sensitivity=" to 1.0
6. Set "UseMouseSmooth=" to 0.
7. Set "Smoothness=" to 0.
8. Save and Close the file. Your ingame cursor should now move without accelaration

Cheers!^^ Feels better now. The annoying semi-hidden autoaim is still haunting me, but hopefully it will be gone with a patch or two.

Try setting it to offline mode.

True, seems like they never done any optimization. I'm currently playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist on my setup at 1080p and it looks quite brilliant at times. I know they're very different games but Watch Dogs looks like something from 3-4 years ago.

This is from TPB about that release.

Quote:
Absolutely real. And no moving any files around to get it to work. You *do* have to download UPlay and create an account - but just log into UPlay and then go into Offline mode. UPlay will update and take you back into Online (no big deal) but then go back into Offline mode and leave it running.

Then, no matter where your game is, just go into your Watch_Dogsbin folder and start the game with GameLauncher_x64.exe

Easy!

Watch_Dogs – Hidden ‘DeferredFXQuality’ Option that Significantly Improves Visuals

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/watch_dogs-hidden-deferredfxquality-option-improves-significantly-visuals/#more-65558

EDIT: It was just updated to include this...
According to various reports, there are no meaningful differences between the console and the pc setting. In short, a placebo effect.

Oh well. Rolling Eyes

Night time looks good, daytime looks bland and washed out.

Anyway, I completed 6 out of Act I's 9 missions, and did some crime stopping missions.

The game isn't bad, but it's not exactly impressing me.

Whoever said the audio is low wasn't kidding.
I switched to headphones just to hear clearly and i still don't think i'm hearing all the ambient sounds because they're so faint.

What's this "Start Open Your World to unlock the second tier of upgrades"?

Is that Online/Lobby/Invade mechanic, or is it a certain story mission?

It's a real dick move if so, locking more than half the entire skill tree behind the online requirement.

Only thing i'm pissed about .. why the fux did they remove DoF from almost everything? It's still there since you can see it when hacking ATM's, in some cutscenes (ingame not pre-rendered), and when activating your phone for a sec.. but that's it.

In almost every single game + enbs i love the Bokeh DOF and i'm quite sure i'm not the only one. Hope Boris fixes this -_-
