hmzz, when i run the game whit the extra block lines in my host file the games runs fine and there is no asking for a cd-key. But when i'm using the private server patch it keeps asking for a cd-key. So you mean that when i use the private server patch the extra lines in my host file is not enough and i need a firewall to block this. I think that when i block it with the then there is no mp prossible.

I would say that when you've blocked the exe, then there is no way to play mp. I would also say the private server patch is for the server side.
I've not tried to play mp yet. If I get it to work I'll let you know.
Ask Xerofighter to see how he got it to work.

strange i just copied the .exe from vaseline to my quake 4 folder, replacing the deviance crack
and it doesn't ask for a cdkey
this patch deactivated the authing thing right?
so if you would enter the deviance serial again you should get to the main menu, the game needs a serial before it can try to connect to the auth server(which is disabled)
after you entered the serial you should get to the main menu
and then you can play online
i thought i got a screen which asked me for a cdkey when i tryed to join a game, i entered the cdkey from deviance, and off i went

Add "127.0.0.1 q4master.idsoftware.com" to your hosts file (Start > Run > notepad %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts)
Thats a very retarded salution from deviance, if you block exe with firewall you wont be able to play mp. |
excuse me but people who get pirated games should know not to expect multiplayer games
if you want multiplayer buy the game

Haveing trouble with Quake4.
check out the threads in; http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6 to see if any1 have a simular problem that you have.

Yes i have done that but the patch is a bit buggy. Sometimes i can you it in about 5 sec hanging. An sometimes it hangs on authenticating. Someone posted that the servers with ports 280004 t/m 280007 did't work but there are a lot more servers that don't work. I think only servers without punkbuster work!!

yo.
seem to have a problem with q4, little white dots appearing all over. really irretating.
anyone had similiar problems, or know how to fix it? see screen.
