I have what might be a stupid suggestion.
How about giving some "staus" to members with like a 1000 posts, or something like it?
There is a constant newbie signup around the same time a "big" release is out. Some of these signups are nice, some are not!
My idea, how stupid it may be is to give some...i dont know, maybe "elder" staus to nforce members that has been around for a while or something like that.
i'm just brainstorming here, so cut me some slack.. will ya!.
Thing is ,i'm turning in to a pussy, i'm 32 years old in april. And i just cant find it in me to argue with n00bs about shit for no reason whatsoever. I just want to hang out in this forum (as before). And maybe have some arguments with someone now an then. This said, without getting banned for trying to ripp his head off and scullfuck him!
I dont know... but i dont think i'm alone, i've been here for over a year now and prolly been a nice guy about 96% of the time. So i deserve better than getting kicked in the groin by some n00b and then banned for sticking it to him!

Know what you mean, i've also sen the incarnation of the force a couple of times. Thing is though, this used to be a nice place, where thiefs came togheter.
Now it's starting to be: you trying to write something in the thread...and then getting overrun by some tenagecock!. Thing is, beeing in lawschool and all i respect most ppl's right to say whatever they want and so on. But what what i dont want is to get pissed on by ppl with 5 posts and then get banned for striking back!
That shit needs to be taken care off!
I've earned my fucking way here, i've been insulted by everyone from Injurios to skyline GTR, and thats fine since it's done with a laugh! However, i have found lately that dicks have full acces and pull the same weight as you do after only 16 posts. Wich in my opinion is fucked!

I think that if senior members were given some form of acknowledgement they should also be given a lot stricter rules.
I mean just because you have "Sr." by your nick doesn't mean you're always right and we do sometimes argue about useless points.

It would be great to actually.
But, I dunno. Giving us the ability to do what we want and when we want it just because of your over-excessive commitment to the community is a bit too much to ask.
You’d be better off getting a mod status than getting a free ride.
It’s a nice idea though.
If it were to happen it should happen only to a selected few.
Not just anyone with a post count + age.
I say there’s like ten potential members here who could/should get that free ride  |

I dunno bout some kinda status....u can tell who the reg/frequent, decent posters are...
I would however, like to see a nice big crack down stick in Pc Games Tech...its such a pain in the ass referencing something because there are 60 milllion topics for every release - and most of them are fuckin stupid as in someone didnt read something right so they come here and expect help. I dont mind helping, by why help those who cant even follow simple fuckin instructions...?
Very fuckin annoying to say the least.
And I think that turns away more of the knowledgable, incitful user's as whatever they say is flamed by some kid with a hard on and shit.
I dont mind arguing with ppl, but lately, the upsurge in stupid, noobish ranting has become very bad.
But hey, the mods cant be everywhere at once, so u have to expect a lil bs from time to time....just lately its gotten way to childish...
Otherwise, I have no complaints and as ive said, the mods here at nforce are generally fair and objective - there might be a few expections but on the whole i think the mods do a good job

hey, you DO get special treatment from us, as in mods... most times if you mess up we try to go easier on you and you will get alot more warning and temp banns before a perm one...
but i do agree on a system of respect or something...
like 50 posts would be a newbie wannabe
100 would be a wannabe
500 would be a hooked
1000 would be nforce elder
and another one for us mods to vote as "respected member"

I dunno, titles and rankings, beside like admin, mod/op is...I dunno, elitist?
But if that would make things easier in some way, then i say go for...actually, that would be a good idea come to think of it. What i mean is, somehow add it to ur name or something so no matter whether ur on IRC or on the Forum, it applies - might as well have the system for both rather than one or the other.

In my opinion if you are a decent member you will more than likely get decent treatment from the mods. there will inevitebly be some cases where there is a trigger happy mod that makes a banning mistake but those will get taken care of. Post count should have no impact on anything.

Regarding post count, I think up to a certain number, it really does matter, in a way.
Im more inclined to help someone who has contributed to the forum or the site in some way than some 1 time wonder posting, bitching in poorly written english about something that is easily solveable using basic common sense.
I'd say after a thousand posts, or something like that if a system were to be developed...as for 2K, 3K, 4K, 5K etc, that really doesnt matter...after a thousand, chances are u have made a good amount of contribution to the site in some forum or another.

I had a few thousand posts during the last incarnation of nforce and i dont remember before that whipe, i was mostly a reader. I don't see a posting status change. We all know who the active members are, we all have had our discussions. I remember jbrow becoming a mod as well. Maybe we should have the annual Nforce awards!

I agree on having seniority status...
While sr. members do usually get a lot more lenient treatment than one-time-users as far as bans, etc. it would still be nice to see some formal recognition for being on the board for several years and/or having 1000+ posts. It gives those with actual, valid opinions, who have made significant contribution to this board, a greater say than bored teens who have no respect for the board and it's rules/members. While some people with few posts do have valid things to say, many are spammers and easily act immature. Those who are on the board with valid reason and plan to stay, will eventually be rewarded with the elite status.
As for making stricter rules for elders, I both agree and disagree.
I believe that elders should have both rights and responsibilities.
Rights:
- An elder is entitled to verbally hand any noob that disrespects him/her his scrawny, pre-pubescent ass w/o risk of ban. Not to start flame wars, but to retort. If it turns into a flame war, the one-post-wonder and not the senior member is removed from the board.
- An elder is entitled to access to an "Elite" section of the board, which contains a general chat, PC Games, Consoles, and Sexy Selections forums accessible only to 1000+ posters.
- An elder is allowed to issue warnings to other members of the board (kind of like slashdot's moderation system, where each noob starts with a rating of 5, and if 5 elites vote on a ban, the newbie gets a temp (2-3 days). Seniors can also add points to members they feel contribute to the board, with a certain amount of votes automatically equalling "Exhalted" status or something like it.
Responsibilities:
- An elder must be helpful in his/her replies to a question, unless he/she is insulted by another member, the question breaks the rules, or the question is stupid to begin with.
- An elder must use voting system responsibly (nothing like, I don't like his name so I'll mod him down. Only vote someone up if they're consistently funny/helpful/insightful and mod someone down if they're breaking the rules or acting like dicks.
- An elder cannot start flame wars
The new priviledges would give us an idiot-free place to troll, and actual input into who matters on the site (we've been here for a while, so we know whose contributions are valuable and who's just trolling the voids.) It would also give us actual ability to retaliate against the immature jackasses on this board. The responsibilities are already followed by most elites.

I think its been tried and didnt work out. If i wanted posts i would reply in every post here and have something like 10k posts, but do i need that?
I just reply to something where my opinion might be of interest.

I honestly doesnt think this ranking system will help on the disrespect from the noobs and such, though the idea about having that special section for the +1000, that would be great.
