Hell, I'm hoping it has at LEAST 10GB of that for the FMVs. Let's get some proper 1080 action on and not that 720 BIK crap Very Happy

From Steam:

"This was advertised as Movie-like graphics...
However, in-game, everything looks cartoonish. And when you actually see the characters, even though they appear movie-like, you can't freakin control them, so whats the point...at least make them controllable from 3rd person view. "

No, uninformed people are uninformed. These people have probably never played the originals (neither have I actually). Critique such as this was most surely present following the old games releases as well, and this game doesn't present itself as a sequel judging by the name.

... seriously? The Steam page has several references to this being part of a large series.

And heck, how dumb do people have to be to not even READ the little block of text below the trailer:

Quote:
Tesla Effect upgrades the classic Tex Murphy experience with HD live-action -- that's right, for those of you not old enough to have played adventure games in the 90s, Tex Murphy embraces the lost art of green screen full-motion video as it interacts with fully modeled 3D environments.

There's nothing misleading about this - it's dead on and the game is exactly as it says on the tin. That guy was just a moron.

No... But it's always nice to have some more background. Just look at every game as a different case.

But if you want to get the others I'd say: Pandora detective (tesla is the sequel) and Under a killing moon (Some characters and locations) are the important ones.

I never played any of the old Tex Murphy games, but this one is fun. I even enjoy walking around clicking on everything just to hear the descriptions.

Yep those two are THE games to play. The new game has a ton of references to the old ones and I do mean a ton. It's just so much more fun in a nostalgic sense to see the old locations popping up again.

EDIT: oh, and I want to foretell the future: John Walker over at RPS will give the game a panning, bitching about stuff no-one cares about while people will actually enjoy the game despite his shitty opinion Laughing

You should play them anyway. At the very least play Pandora Directive, because it's one of the best adventure games ever made.

Well i'm totally hooked. First thing i thought was that the textures could really have been better, but to be honest i soon forgot about it and now i'm really into the story. The acting has gotten muuuuch better from the old games and i must say its nice to see Tex back again.

Currently the best kickstarter game to date.
