Depends what your reasons for not caring in the first place. |
Well, I loved the combat system and the atmosphere - but I didn't care for the story delivery and I'm not really a fan of fighting the same mobs over and over because I made a mistake.
The game didn't have enough appeal for me to invest myself on that level - so I would inevitably make mistakes.
If the game had a more compelling reason to overcome challenges, beyond simply overcoming them, I probably wouldn't have a big problem with it.
I did play Demon's Souls a lot - and got through most of it, but I think I just got sick of the formula. At first, I was really invested and I learned the patterns in combat - at which point the game becomes very doable. But I guess I just never felt properly rewarded.
If DS2 has better story delivery or other reasons to overcome challenges - maybe it's worth a shot. |
It's basically DS1 with a different settings, but the mechanics and "storytelling" (the little there is) is the same, apart from some minor gameplay tweaks (ie: enemies now despawn after you kill them ~10 times)

The amount of people that can't even launch the game because they play on a TV and not on a monitor is big. It needs to be fixed asap. I have a bad feeling that it will not be easy for them to fix it and a massive wave of refunds is on the way next week. |
Damn was planning to play it on the TV but I guess that's ruled out then. Or does the bug only affect some people?

Are the controls in this game as unintuitive as they were in the first one?

Aye, supposedly VAC bans only affect games based on that *engine* -- so cheating in CS will ban you from all GoldSrc games, cheating in CSS will ban you from all Source. Etc. At least, as far as I can remember. Still; this is great and hilarious. If people "hacked 10 years ago, shouldn't be punished now" then they should have created new accounts 10 years ago and learned from their mistake - everyone knows VAC bans are permanent and never removed from the account, so why live with that for a decade?

I didn't say LIVE with your past, I said LEARN from it. Start over, clean slate, don't cheat. But hey... that's okay, keep on rolling your eyes.

Wait for the release, if something like this happens then just create another account and activate your key on that one.

Sadly they'll just rescind the ban issue, you know it's going to happen because people will just kick off that it goes "against Valve's own company policy" - thus giving cheaters free pass to ruin yet another game. Yes, there are sometimes false positives and I absolutely feel bad for anyone getting banned over that (my earlier reference to Punkbuster is a key culprit in false positive bullshit bans) but I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of people that got banned did so because they were cheating ... and to those I have no pity or sympathy, and can only say "tough tittie"

Kind of funny what kind of excuses some people are giving 'everyone hacked so I did as well' ... Nice reasoning there.
Ah well, most likely will be resolved by the end of the day. Hope the majority wises up, but njeh... bet they won't

Oh I *hope* this is true! Look at all the cheating scumbags whining the good whine about how "unfair" this is! I fucking love it, I really do. As far as I'm concerned if people are caught cheating in ANY game they should be banned from ALL -- hell, Punkbuster does it. If you get banned on 1 PB server in 1 PB-protected game, you're banned from all PB servers on all PB games. Love it.
"It's not fair! I was banned two years ago! It's not fair! This is bullshit! Fucking Valve bullshit! They said VAC bans only affect that one game you were banned from! I'm going to complain! Fucking $50 down the drain!"

It's karma, dude... !

VAC is next to useless most of the time anyhow, just look at MPGH and you'll see dozens, if not hundreds, of hacks for all the popular shooters that are VAC undetected - VAC only seems to catch the older hacks.

For the people who can't start the game because they run it on a TV, if you have an ATI, simply enable GPU scaling in the driver Sorry, have no NVidia to know what they'd need.

you can sell stuff once you get to no mans wharf, theres a guy there, sorta hidden that will buy your crap, but once you clear that area he moves to another levels, doors of pharros where he stays the rest of the game, to get to no mans wharf you are going to have to have completed heides tower of flame or... erm.. lost bastille I think.other wise I think you are outta luck
when there is no more room in hell, the D34D will walk the earth
