I have a friend that has an ipad 2, he's on IOS 5, jailbroken.
He hates the way iOS 7 looks (and runs on that hardware ?), so he wants to update to latest version of 6, because newer apps don't work on 5. Any guides for that ?

Afaik you can't do that on iPad 2. Apple doesn't sign iOS 6 hashes anymore.

Removing the need for signing : nope, because the bootrom isn't pwned on A5 devices and verifies this signature before updating the IPSW. Think of installing a CFW on a PS3 that isn't exploitable (kinda, because the Apple hash is generated randomly online and thus dynamic).
Fake signing ? Huh ? You can only get private keys at Sony's :DDDDD
