same here, the ultra smoothness of ground zeroes kinda dulled the beginning of infamous for me, but after a few minutes i enjoyed the gfx and the framerate was fine too.

I didn't even realise there was an expert difficulty until I read that post above, I will be putting that on ASAP |
I agree fully, reviews are raving this game hyping it up to be the next big thing, i too have the game and i think it is just OK, its a standard super hero game of the likes of spiderman and others, i dont think its on par in terms of gameplay or variety as the batman games though, i know he is not rly a fighter, and has powers, but he does have a melee system with a single combo, batman games has tons of combos, and still gadgets (powers in infamous) whatever you want to call it, its diversity .
For a game with multiple powers, theres little deph to them imo, you cant rly combine anything, ala, mass effect, in that game the powers really complemented themselfs and became more powerful when performing the right combos, yes, you can see everything blowing up in wonderful particles and shoot an enemy on the head or on the foot, but thats about it.. this game could be so much more, i dont even think it will hold up a second playthrough, the decisions are all black and white and the open world, besides going wherever you want , doesnt do much beyond that, it doesnt even have a day/night cycle, they are adding a patch so you can change that! (thats crazy!)
I expected much more from this new generation, some stuff is clearly a step back on what other games have improved years ago, so far i can only see graphics that are on par with a pc game, particle effects that are nice and good looking and thats about it, it is as repetitive as it can be, theres a severe lack of enemy types, combined powers, its basicly a glorified prototype and that game was fun but most of the time mediocre, as is this game, i would give it a 7 out of 10, not 8 and 9 like some reviewers..
I will say this though, the cutscenes , the facial expressions are really, really well done, i wish games like alan wake (good story telling ) would have this animations on the story cut scenes, even though the story in infamous is nothing special, the animations make you really feel the characters, thats one of the highest points imo, they totaly focused on graphics and forgot about the rest.
Also the way he gets each power is far from an epic moment, you just go to these random generators from point to point, absorve them and voila, new power, these things needed more work imo, the game is a bit shallow when it comes to the gameplay and the powers and all.
Also the good vs bad side doent rly come as totaly fleshed out from each other, even when it comes to good vs evil powers they are all essentialy the same thing just with different lights, ppl complained about the mass effect ending but this game does this from start to finish and nobody seems bothered about it, and that brings me also to the fact that the only difference between neon and smoke is the mobility , they dont rly bring anything new to the table, i know he has other powers later on that are a bit different , but this could of been handled much better imo.

well obviously its not in the same league as the arkham games, but its a fun game, although very short and basically a graphical showcase with standard gameplay.
i d give it a 7,5, the gfx are pretty but gameplay-wise i ve had more fun with ground zeroes.

You got hfricy'd
No such thing exists. It's the same nonsense as people with 120 Hz monitors going "OMG 30 FPS IS SO SMOOTH NOW"

I have such effect on a SAMSUNG TV, they call it Motion Plus or something like that.
Movies do seem smoother somehow, not sure how it works.
That being said, I never saw this "working" with games/consoles.

There's multiple versions in TVs.
One is the cheap one, which is what you get on 120 Hz monitors. That just duplicates and/or delays frames to match refresh rate. 30 FPS means you see each frame 4 times, at 8.33ms intervals. Result is less ghosting and blur, which looks smoother because the image is cleaner. It doesn't come close to true 120 FPS, let alone 60, though. No artifacts.
Then there's the crap one. That performs interpolation. So say it's 30 FPS on a 100 Hz refresh rate. Frame X will be too slow so then the software "guesses" what would happen based on Y frames before by analysing motion and such. Naturally that can't always go right, so you get artifacts. Samsung has this on all TVs since like 2008.

So is anyone doing the paper trail? Started part 3 earlier and I'm really enjoying this haha
Finished the main game and enjoyed it. It was a bit short, powers are fairly limited and all of the stuff that was mentioned already. I also found the lack of soft shadows from anything other than global illumination a bit distracting. Just really weird to stand in front of a fucking DUP truck and 0 shadows being cast.

patch is good. i like 30fps option, makes game feel much more smooth, i hate framerate fluctuations, it must be either 30 or 60 for me.

It very rarely goes above 30 anyway. During normal gameplay it generally hits 35 at most (see Digital Foundry's videos too). It's when you go up high or look up that it jumps up a lot and feels weird.

Its just so impressive the devs are doing this its more to do with the effort than the results eventually it will push other devs to doing different things
