I've got a solution for being unable to log-in: Don't log-out. Razz

(It is actually a serious suggestion, for those who aren't stressing about the power used by their PC - I left mine on all night, and am still logged in to Steam. Smile )

I believe so, yes.

Doesn't sound that great imo, probably means the current store.steampowered.com will be removed (not that we can access it anyway lately...) in favor of completely user based stores.

I think that's unlikely... Or at least, unlikely in the near future. For one thing, the first tweet confirms Valve will still have a curated space. For another, there'll have to be a "default" store-page, for those who don't want the hassle of Following consumer-curators, and for those who have just signed-up to Steam. There will have to be a standardised landing page for people new to Steam, especially with the SteamOS/Machines coming soon.

How long that need will remain is questionable, though. Smile

Edit:

I would also speculate that Facebook/Twitter/G+ intergration will become more pronounced. Something along the lines of "So-and-so friend on Facebook has a Steam Curation Page. Follow them?". Probably also the same thing for Youtube - "You're subscribed to TotalBiscuit on Youtube. He has a curation page. Follow?"

Maybe, not entirely sure. I can't say I'm looking forward to having to browse to other people's stores though. One is enough already (especially with the crap flooding on Steam lately, although I would still like to see all as I also do not want to miss out on little gems).

Yeah, I like the idea of user-curation, but I doubt I'll actually use it that much, for the same reason.

Never occured to me that pubs/devs were affected by the outages too. Makes it even more shocking that Valve are having trouble keeping the servers up for any length of time. Maybe the're doing a widespread upgrade, in preparation for.. something?

I hope they won't remove the ability to list all the games, sorted by release date on Steam. I go through it once or twice a month, adding the ones I'm interested it to wishlist. It's the most efficient way for me to be up to date with new releases and old titles coming to Steam.

Mmmm... Quite possibly. Though I haven't kept in the loop with the state of SteamOS - is it anywhere near an official launch?

I honestly have to believe they're doing a major overhaul/upgrade of their server set-up, because otherwise it's just amateur hour at Bellevue. I understand that Steam takes actual percentage points of the total world-wide internet traffic at certain points, but to be down for so many hours on a Tuesday morning... Urgh.

Either that or they're having the worst DDoS attack ever in the history of the internets ever!!!!11!!!!!!!!1!!11

I'm not sure to be honest, I know it's "out" now if you want to tinker but the full and proper launch? I don't know. Supposedly when SteamBox launches but that isn't until when? Q4?

Yes, but I don't really pay attention to it, unless I'm chatting to someone. Steam is my default chat app now, so I have it running in the background on my S3 and Nexus 7.

Which is to say, if you have a question, I might be able to help, but it's probably a better idea to head over to the Steam forums (when they're up again), like Bob suggested. Smile

Partner site is already fixed Wink But yes, they are affected by the same outages. They said they are working on a fix, although this was probably meant for the partner site only as it was completely down.
