Mirror of fate is NOTHING like metroidvania games, it is pretty much Rondo of Blood with no actual freedom of exploration or anything that SoTN can offer.
So no, I hope it won't do any better.
I'm okay with handheld Castlevanias and I want more lie DS ones.

Hopefully this one will be better than Lord Of Shadows 2, which gave the undeserving coup the grace to the poor Castlevania franchise (for me at least)

I just tried this for a while out of curiosity, it wasn't exactly a great experience..
It's yet another shoddy port (why I'm not surprised) where mouse&kb controls are rough as hell, as expected.
I'm still at the beginning, but gameplay-wise it's linear and kinda simplistic, with robotic animations and dated models/textures. The game doesn't look good in HD, even if it's supposedly "HD", it's like going back to the glorious PS2 era 
Seems like an okay-ish timewaster, but nothing more than that (imo), it's basically a side-scrolling Lord of Shadows spin-off, though not as refined as the 'main game', and obviously miles away from the classics

Does anyone else experience bad sound in this game? Seems like the ambient noises are too loud and overpower the speech and music, also some sounds cut out completely if I stand a certain distance away from their source.

To be honest, I don't know why Konami hasn't licensed the entire catalogue for resale on the PC. The VirtualConsole has the classic, and phenomenal, Rondo of Blood as well as the NES originals CV/CV2SQ/CV3 and SNES SCIV. Konami could get together with DotEmu, the porting masters, and release a "Castlevania Collection" and I'd snap it up, whether I have the ROMs or not
