Are the stealth sections very frequent?
Why'd they add stealth to Castlevania, anyways? And turning into a rat???

yap looks exactly as you described, i think its a console thing to scale it down, its definatly noticible, and i dont even have an HD screen or anything, when motion blur and some effects jump in, you can see some pixelated stuff around the chars and some other stuff, either that, or it is a bug..

They aren't half-bad,they are just boring and the same. Not actual stealth, just imitation of it. For the sake of..?
____
As for pixelated stuff - I don't know, hard to notice something else besides horrible aliasing everywhere.

The stealth section I played was shit, although the first stealth section fits the context.
The Game, the voice acting, the setting... even I dare say the story which I'm always critical of are amazing so far.
The modern day setting.. wtf were they thinking, but it fits the context of the story so far, and I think it's actually a good fit.
Only problem is if its the same bland textures/environments throughout.

Ok, for those who have gotten far in this game. How is the backtracking for areas later in the game? I've missed a good few things that keeps nagging me, and would love for a chance to revisit the areas.

You have to go all the way again and these wold portals don't help much.

But you get to go through a portal for more or less each place?

went back couple pages to see if anyone else had the same platforming fun I've been having - it doesn't seem so.
The swords fights are OK but the platforming is great imo.
When I'm platforming hard I know I'm gonna miss chunks of the game but so what that's the next playthru.
For me trying to systematically work thru every area of this type of game spoils the immediacy of the gameplay.
I'm enjoying this game rather more than the first one where I got stuck on a puzzle solve n had to go backwards into another area n do something different - that hasn't happened here yet.
For me this game is fun a light hearted 'romp' not some turgid work full of layers each of which must be completed to 'truly appreciate' it.
I think we sometimes we forget that these are games to be enjoyed not deconstructed & over analysed to the point where any possibility of enjoyment has been destroyed.
But I'm playin the yarr iteration -( I did buy a key, but cddiski don't wanna hand it over for a couple more days) n not having to consider whether I'm "getting my money's worth" may make it easier to just play & enjoy the fucker.

I think you should try to pose your views on gaming to others, less.

80-90% percent in and I can say that all the reviews are spot on.
Unfortunately.
Or fortunately?

Most of the value it at 6-7. Pretty much it is.
dannofdawn wrote: | But seriously, the first one was co-dev with Kojima Productions. That makes a big difference. You have a different studio (a very good one at that) to share opinions, discuss designs. Now they have to do it themselves and base on their track record...
No one should be expecting much from this title. |

I just defeated Pan's brother, I must say the game seems designed by a schizophrenic. The castle sections are excellent, atmospheric and well designed. The modern areas are uninspired, dull and have some horrible gameplay sections (stealth bullshit and rats and whatnot).
It's really a shame, the game could've been even better than LoS1 if it was all set in the castle... instead it falls short... it's still a good game, but not excellent.

ok got to that famous Argeus section - yeah its not greatly designed but its pretty easy in the end. Are reviewers idiots - how in hell kotaku guy spent 4 hours on it ???
It took me 7-8 minutes tops , just to saw a pattern and carefully use mist. Dont really understand the butthurt about this section as it was that easy. (i would say that "stealth" in this game is more like puzzle than anything else)

I guess we can say LoS2 too the worst of these 2, haha.

That does not change the fact it is absolutely retarded and badly designed part of the game.

yeah they arernt good, but set up whole review around 4 puzzle/"stealth" sections which all can be finished within couple minutes (when whole game is cca 15h) is imo retarded even more
( i would add some hint to use mist for derps)

No, it is not. It is a valid bottleneck in the gameplay flow. Besides, he used it as a main example when he was talking about stealth sections overall, he wasn't just basing his opinion on this particular one. So yes, he is correct on this one. Stealth in game absolutely horrible and has no point to exist at all. Why they decided to add it - a great mystery.

Finaly uncovered what was the pixelation:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-lords-of-shadow-2-face-off
As they state on this review, there is pixelation when you use motion blur, its low res effects, it was bugging me a LOT tbh, turned motion blur off and its gone..
"Unlike the previous game, the PS3 doesn't benefit from a higher-precision camera and object blur implementation this time around, with both consoles getting a noticeably low-resolution effect that displays pixellation and banding-like artefacts..."
This is very much present on the PC version as well if you have motion blur on medium or high..

Spoiler: | The "background story telling via the book/female narrator" for me felt like total BULLSHIT...still i managed to reach the first true episode (Farmaceutic place...once started, left the game for another time) |
If shit gets boring i'll end up watching the ending and go do something else...

I just beat it and I thought the ending sucked. Hardly an "epic conclusion" that we were told it would be.
Spoiler: | Victor Belmont was a complete waste of a character. They made him too weak and cowardly, it felt like a disrespect to the Belmont lineage. He should have lived and killed Dracula at the end, granting him the release he was seeking. |
