I dont know if this has been mentioned earlier in th thread.. BUT,
when you loot a drawer for instance, you know before Garret has opened the drawer if there is any loot in it because the animation that grabs the loot starts before he has opened the drawer.. Scratch Head lol wut

Yeah I started noticing that quite fast, he positions his other hand to do the grab move before the drawer is fully opened which looks a bit silly.

Usually, I see eye to eye with you guys. Not this time though. Seems like I like Squeenix titles of late. I liked Absolution, I liked TR ... and I like Thief.

Out of these most challenging was Absolution.

Really? Out of the three, Absolution sits at the bottom for me. This one has dumb AI, Absolution has no AI. Plenty of artificial in it, but the intelligence I couldn't find. The only redeeming factor I could find was Nixxes' work again.

I've learned to take these reboots as games on their own, since none of them will ever really be like the originals anymore. But even then I found Absolution to just be horrible, worse than this one. - tiny levels with 0 freedom (less than this), no AI, broken instinct mechanic. TR I actually quite enjoyed for what it was, which wasn't TR but an enjoyable action game otherwise that offered a fair bit of exploration. I didn't use guns in that one though, because it was way too damn easy.

What is the actual difference between the 64bit and 32bit version of the game? Anything noticeable?

Yup. Also have waypoint markers off, with lockpicking and frame help off also. I did have focus turned off until someone here mentioned about the game really being built around it.
Finding it quite enjoyable, with some of the caveats mentioned here. Very atmospheric.

Nothing as far as I can tell, just that the game offers native x64 support if the OS (And hardware.) can use it. Smile

Am I the only one around here who can't even start the damn game? Sad
I just get the "Thief has stopped working." message..

Apparently, "Run As Administrator" did the trick..

There are new AMD 14.2 beta drivers, that are said to improve performance in Thief:

Will try it later myself

How come Dxtory not working for this game?

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Is it compatible with 64-bit? You could run the x86 exe directly and see if that works. Smile
(Also does it work with DX11 and 64-bit)

Works here, it's actually using the 64bit version of it and has watermark for the cracked version Sad

So it seems that the stuttering occurs as it loads new areas ( I believe Batman Arkham City had the same issue). Seems like the problem plagues the latest UE3 games.

Thanks.

Working with x86 exe. I guess I'll use x86 exe, since there is no difference. Smile

Didn't know there was a 64bit version.

Not just in the beginning. It can be near constant too as it's streaming.

And disabling levelstreaming crashes it for me and others (not to mention a massive increase in load times between levels)

I'm in a small room with a maid and a guard who is walking around the fire. I want to finish the game in ghost. So, if extinguish the fire, will it lead to opportunist or remain ghost rating?

Thanks.

I would say opportunist since you interact with and use the environment to your advantage but maybe it only counts if they notice the fire going out.

You could always create a manual save and see the results, load if it's not what you wanted and then try again. Smile
(That or immediately choosing to replay the mission instead of going to the city streets after completing it.)

So far the game is very linear, as far as chapters go. Not to mention the arrow types and "gadgets". Im at the 4th chapter already and I got bored by the tools I have.

And now I googled it.....8 chapters only? My god.......

For everyone still having stutters and framedrops....did you turn off the exclusive fullscreen?
Just curious since Neon never reported back. Very Happy

Exclusive fullscreen would make the game run as a normal full screen program I believe, with it off the game uses a borderless windowed mode far as I can tell.
(They perform pretty much the same here, maybe one is better for multi-monitor setups or other compatibility concerns like just that issue about stuttering?)

I play in bordless window mode, so exclusive mode is disabled. Also only using one monitor. And still get stutter. Don't even want to try playing in exclusive mode, as i want to be able to alt-tab without problems Very Happy

Thanks, managed to get ghost rating. It was close though.
(the pie chart showed opportunist around 40% something).

5th chapter is creepy. Sad
