I found several in the hub area. Seeing loot I couldn't get helped in detecting beams I could attack my rope arrow to.
For those who occasionally use focus it is even easier. It highlights objects you can interact with

what the hell this looks like a 3GB game.

Hmm..nope. It doesn't. But Im pretty sure it could have been smaller

Not being able to jump hasn't been a big issue so far although on some occasions it would have been handy, instead you slide over or scale objects when you are close to them.

Of course it's not when the game's designed around it. Still doesn't mean that losing something as elementary as jumping is ridiculous.

I forgot about that, most of the other movement mechanics are in however such as leaning around objects (Or over them.) sliding, crouching, sneaking by walking very slow (Although crouching works well enough unless it's metal or water you're walking on.)

(Or peeking through keyholes to look in on some ongoing sex act as demonstrated earlier in this thread.)

EDIT: With the guards being so dumb though you can speed run straight past them and duck into a dark corner and they'll usually never find you, they do on occasion stay alerted for a while but usually they just go back to doing whatever they're designed to do.
(They won't find you at all if you enter a vent or such, just don't stand near the opening of it - unsure how it is with the Metal Gear Solid style hiding closets.)

This game is definitely similar to Deus Ex HR but it's a bit worse.

There's a problem with quickloading quicksaves where when you quicksave in a completely safe spot and then quickload that save, you'll for no reason have alerted guards to your presence (meaning they're yellow, not red). I've had this happen to me on three different occasions now and it fucks up my scores (I do it completely ghost). But aside from that and the ocassional stuttering, it plays fairly okay... The AI is very much like in DE:HR. For better or worse. Razz

I'm having fun but not as much fun as I did in DE:HR where I played the same way (undetected, avoiding enemies rather than going after them), maybe it's the setting (I do love cyberpunk) or maybe it's just that there's a little less exploring to do. There's still some exploring, it does have these small hub areas for each mission but it feels more like an illusion of freedom. Which isn't necessarily bad as such, but still.

I'll stick with saying that this game is certainly entertaining and a good game on its own, as long as you don't compare it to the previous games or to DE:HR. And yep, I agree with Werelds... I don't get how you can put any trust into reviewers/sites that stand by their decisions to praise such crappy games and then turn around completely and punish better games for the same stuff they praised about. I understand that review sites have different reviewers with different tastes and opinions but fucking hell, there's got to be some fucking standard doesn't it? Some sense of objectivity.

next time, press that quick load button more quietly Laughing

Exploring the hub at a certain point I thought "that was it", but in time I found more and more places to climb up, windows to break in Wink and I still can't get to several places because I lack some tools.I just hope it's not the only area of that size' although I suspect it is Laughing

if you hide in a closet, and they see you getting in it, they both stand infront of the closet, and when you barge out they're both stunned. I used this method to knockout 2 pesky guards that I couldn't separate. Very Happy

So, basically they're similar to how they were in Deus Ex HR? I can live with that. They're weren't the smartest but I didn't mind it for the most part.

@StrEagle

Kinda stupid. I mean of them Wink They should have just stabbed you through a door lol

PS
Garreth hides in a closet . Guards surround the closet and wait for him.

Garreth opens the door and waves his blackjack: - I'm coming out!

Guards: - Oh shit! Very Happy

Well the blackjack is described as doing "massive damage" when fully upgraded, no idea how that works but I guess that's why he doesn't have a knife any longer, or all those swords just lying on the streets after sweeping up the guard patrols and dumping them in a dark corner somewhere.
(Diamond studded blackjack? inserts a blade in it?)

EDIT: Oh and blackjacking civilians gives a game over screen, same goes if you kill them naturally so just avoid them if you are trying to be sneaky or distract them.
(They do call for guards so they can be a hassle in certain situations.)

Basically yes. I'm playing on Master and I feel like I'm playing on Easy. Razz Though the guards in DE:HR did feel a bit more dangerous, I don't know why but I'm having a way easier time in this than I did in DE:HR. Razz

They were only more dangerous because they had guns Smile But they were dumber than the copy machines I was hiding behind at times. Smile

@JBeckman

That's only if you play on Master difficulty. On other difficulties you are free to knockout everyone. Very Happy

And the closet thing works while they're not actively chasing you (red overhead indicator) but more like investigating (white/yellow indicators).

Haven't tried what happens if they're chasing you (red), probably stab the closet or open it and throw you out of there.

Strange I thought the special rules (Custom difficulty.) were set after initial difficulty level is chosen, maybe civilians are a exempt from that, still thanks for the info. Smile

It was written when you chose the difficulty - master - harming or knocking out a civilian is prohibited.

Ah that explains it, I started with custom difficulty and I don't remember there being any descriptions for the base difficulty mode, which I assumed was mainly about AI skill. Smile
(Should have checked the regular ones first then.)

EDIT: Or I just missed it somehow.

I am running win 8.1, GTX 670...plenty of ram.

Any ideas? I tried running full screen/window...same result.

thanks in advance.

To anyone who has hiccups or fps drops here & there for no apparent reason...Is there a temporary fix or were doomed to wait for an upcoming patch that would fix this...or is it just simply something were going to have to live with ? ..

P.S by the way...I play the game in 3d which looks gorgeous despite the negative comments about them...I get from 35 to 60 fps because of the hiccup issue...And 3d seems to absolutely require v sync on for some ludicrous reason...

I don't know what's with the stuttering either, shouldn't we just see fps drops instead of frequent stutters and hiccups at every turnaround? Or is this stutter completely normal if your VGA doesn't have enough VRAM?
Although I remember that Bioshock Infinite had the same stuttering problems..

Is the latest PhysX runtimes installed? - http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.13.1220-driver.html
(Along with .NET 4.5.1 and DirectX though that one hasn't updated since June 2010)

Unsure how scene releases work, Steam tries to install these things when you first start the game (So I keep deleting those files to avoid getting older version re-installed.) but maybe it's somewhere in the install folder if so?
(_CommonRedists is what the folder should be called.)

Game folder. Smile

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Thief\ThiefGame\Config\

Thief*.ini is the user created files.

However stuff you change in the in-game options don't go here, instead they go to the profile file which is something they've changed with this UE3 version.

By default that's profile.sav here - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\*YourSteamAccountNumber*\239160\remote

I have no idea where Reloaded would have placed it.
(Either the game folder, programdata folder or the Username\Appdata folders - perhaps a folder named RLD and then the Steam AppID which is 239160)

EDIT: Oh and yeah since the game uses a profile file it's possible that ini tweaks don't have much if any effect on the game as the profile file settings override them.
(And the profile file can't be opened or at least it can't be displayed as simple text, coded in some way.)
