Sounds too much of a hassle.
Besides, a basement would be luxury. I'm living under a boat.

Not much choice if you want to play many of the larger games. I don't like Origin or Uplay, but I'm forced to use them for games like AC4 that came with my video card or BF4

Rarely buy anything other than Steam games. I mostly buy it on other places than the Steam store tho.
Origin: when it comes in a bundle or free, unless it would be an exclusive I really wanted. it happened only 3 times with BF3, ME3 and SWTOR. I raged that I needed to use Origin for ME3 and SWTOR tho. BF3 I expected it.
Uplay: I got some games on it. Mostly free, and 2 I bought because of a price glitch. Only one I bought full price was Anno 2070, and that was because I noticed too late it was a Uplay key instead of a steam key.
GoG: got a few games from them. Just because I like them.
So I might end up with a few non steam games from here on out, but it will be rare.
(they still haven't made Uplay keys work with steam right? )

i would, maybe on gog, or some standalone games
other than that, steam all the way.. with familysharing, home streaming, etc the thing keep getting better.
bad about it lately? it has had many downtimes
also the everlasting bad support, but people ask support so many stupid things that i can't blame them that much

I try to avoid steam/origin/whatever unless its only on there as my choice.
I dislike having to launch steam, wait for it to login, start my game, and having random 'wtf is this..I got a steam message? oh...I did something ingame that makes steam tell me I did something and gave me a widget in my inventory of steam for no reason"
Maybe because I'm old and old school. I buy a game I only want the game, not an whole other program I need to run that game.
If I have a choice between a direct digital download version, or steam version. I go for the direct download. its as close as I can get to a 'i bought the no frills box' style purchase as I can get.
If steam ever made a 'steam lite'..like just a steam service the games needed, without all the steam program/GUI/clusterfuck of all that to run..Id use steam more.

I prefer to hold the game in big grubby hands...
I know how well I've played or sucked; so any online "achievement" crap is useless to me
personally.
If however, you are asking whether I'd buy a game through an online service other than
steam ( the only option to purchase being online) then yes... as I generally play games
with which ever service I own it on, turned off.

Yes, but only if said game was not available on steam. I would very much like to have all my games in one place. As it turns out, I have games on steam, origin, uplay, and battle.net .

Of course. You're not a real gamer, if you care so much about the other stuff (achievos, friends and other BS).

I prefer not to have the game on Steam. Why? Because I don't like monopolies, and Steam is heading in that direction. It's a good service, but I don't want to depend solely on it.

My legit games are scattered pretty much everywhere. Steam is my most used platform because it's the most popular one, but I have many on Origin, GOG and some on uPlay and Capsule too..I don't care about their location really.
Still, I feel that Gaben is slowing turning me into his sex slave and this is getting worrisome xD

This. I prefer platforms that let me download the installation files or buy boxed copies. Remember what happened to impulse?

Exactly this.
Demand DRM-free files.
