Once I get through the prologue and into the main missions the game will probably pick up and we'll see how it compares though the feedback from the console version will probably be similar here (Stupid AI, linear and small levels with many loading screens to name some things.) albeit with shinier visuals.

Unsure how it'll compare in story and immersion but I don't think it'll win if you compare gameplay and difficulty but I could also be completely wrong. Smile
(But as this is Thief and not Rogue it has to compare and hold up against the previous entries in the franchise, of course this will probably go better than what happened with Syndicate, ha ha.)

EDIT:

For now at least, whatever made it possible to get the means to decrypt these files will probably be plugged up eventually, I do hope it holds for a while longer though. Smile
(Meaning Southpark Stick, Resident HD 4 and Castlevania LOS-NoMirror-2 in the near future.)

EDIT: Is Garrett bow-legged or is this some form of ninja-walk I'm unfamiliar with?

(It's kinda hard to capture in screenshots but he's bent or what to call it.)

EDIT: Is that his bow?

Yeah it has, you can see your own body by looking down. Smile
(Garret is no longer a black cube!*)

(If I remember correctly that was his player model in the first two games, it was also the player model of Gordon Freeman in HL2...)

EDIT: A small correction, you can see most of your legs and arms but not the torso part.
(Still nice though.)

Ha ha, well unfortunately Mantle won't be arriving until March, partly because they needed time to implement it and partly because I guess they want a WHQL driver with it. Razz

First impressions?

I'm still doing a tutorial and slowly learning the mechanics of the game, such as finding out your partner (Yes you do have one.) has a item you will likely need to reach other areas (Some claw like item, again.) one thing I'm liking though is that you can search locations multiple times like for example a cupboard with how you first open it and then take the item in it, search/use it again and Garret might open the drawer further down and find some other item. Smile

They focused a lot on immersion and making this city look "alive" although this is still a tutorial area so you can't really go off and explore nor is there much of a threat of getting caught or otherwise get into trouble.

I also don't like the mini-game mechanics, jam E to slowly bend open a window frame, swing the mouse around to find a hidden button and then do it again to rotate the lockpick to light up three circles, I preferred the lockpicking in Deadly-Shadows to this even if should have been a bit more difficult.

Oh and I found a electrical desk fan, didn't think those existed here.
(It's so pretty too at 128x128 texture resolution or what it might be, heh.)

EDIT: (Yay more screens...)

(I'm so pretty.)

They had electric light in Part 3, so why shouldn't there be electric desk fans?

I thought they used blue crystals for power, been some time since I played the game though.

EDIT: That was probably the Pagans come to think of it, I nearly forgot about them and their buddies the Hammerites.

EDIT: Oh yeah Thief 2 had steam robots and security cameras, now I remember. Smile

EDIT: Let's end it here for now, continue once the game unlocks.
(I look like a penis in this outfit...)

(Cutscenes look pretty nice though.)

(I had a magical sword once, lost it somewhere between the second and third game.)

Hmm, trying to find out what option keeps me from getting solid 60..
I guess shadow option?

SSAA high

SSAA low

No SSAA

And EVERYTHING turned off and put on lowest setting (with exception of resolution

Try to disable the contact hardening shadow option, it's a subtle effect but from what I remember it does require a bit of compute performance, shadows won't be as soft but it might improve framerate quite a bit. Smile

EDIT: Your score for SSAA Low is pretty much identical to what I got when I tried the benchmark mode.
(With SSAA set to just low which I assume is 2x with high being 4x)

Should have hit F5 before I replied. Smile

Though it is a benchmark like with Metro 2034 and not a complete indication of actual in-game performance but yeah all at low and only 30 min?
(I expected it to be much higher than that.)

I just started the first mission though it still holds your hand and directs what you can and can not do.

In game & hud, what should I/we turn off to make it more of a search type game than a highlighted object game?

I turned off Loot Glint and object highlighter as "focus" takes care of that.

FYI...games does open up.
