|
 |
It just started, runs for about 2 months. Hopefully all we go well and will find a job rather quick. I don't think what these type of companies are doing makes any sense but hey it's gets job done. Depends how well you perform on your training, they match you with potential company and just need to do well in interview. If you get hired they get money. For example if company would pay me $100K/Year. They would take 30K and give me 70K. I don't think that's a bad deal for a noob like myself. Imagine, they put 6yrs of experience on your resume with 6-8weeks of java training.
I can't wait when that happens. Probably will get placed on a project in a different state. I'm super excited when it happens, to see how life is outside of New York City. I just hope I won't die in first few weeks when that happens T.T. I only know how to make scramble eggs
Wish me luck! Excited to start new year because of this. Change is always good no matter what people say!

Good luck, but.. "Imagine, they put 6yrs of experience on your resume with 6-8weeks of java training", what happens if you can't do the job?

6yrs of experience on your CV are this much worth on the job, when you have actual knowledge of 2 months training And what if you are going to get a $30.000 job and they take $10.000, you'll be left with $20.000 per year. Have fun with that

Yea, I know. It's all shady stuff going on. Companies like that are popping out everywhere and they are run by Hindu(sp? not sure how to call them correctly) people. Two of my friends did it. Can't say they are happy about this but a lot of stress involved at early stages. You get assigned to a project and manager expects you to do this stuff, after all you have 6yrs of experience . It gets easier down the road as they say.
And no, starting salary is 55K/Y. Can't go below that . But I'm not worrying about that.
@Newty182 There is no way you won't get placed somewhere. Few people finished this last month and all of them got placed within 2-3 weeks. Just depends where are you willing to relocate. Most of them are pretty in remote places.
I hope it will all work out at the end. It's how much you put into the training. Most of the time it's actually learning on your own because that 3 hour class is pretty much . Just matter of practicing it by yourself over and over again.

Pretty much what you described. They give you like 200 page interview questions on Java memorize it
and pray to Gods.
I'm not sure what exactly happens after training, when they prepare you for the interview. I will know more later
Honestly my friends told me to stay away from this because it's really shady what companies like that are doing.

I would like to to think so.
Now, onto remembering those 700 interview questions and then I shall become JAVA JEDI.
It's kinda funny because market itself created this, companies don't want to hire people and just get people on 3 or 6 months on contracts. It's a win/win situation for everywhere. I don't particularly agree with what those companies are doing but if there is a market for this, why not. What's even more funny, companies that hire people from those Desi companies, they know what is going on in them but they don't care because there is not enough java ee developers...

Yeah just tell that to yourself when you sit in front of your first serious problem and then spend the rest of the day finding the solution on google
Maybe the market also has permanent job positions for people that actually know their shit instead of being trained to excel at interviews? You really didn't do yourself a favor there, but hey, that is just my opinion. But I doubt that fooling headhunters will make you happy

Yep. Unable to write simple recursive function.
Nobody wants to hire permanent workers, especially for developers position. You can't fire someone unless they fuck up big time, productivity goes down the drain after few years. With having people on contract, they can get fresh new people every 3/6 months and just pick the best of the best or just get brand new people every time a project comes up.
Even when I do get a project, I bet there will be A LOT OF SLEEPLESS night. A friend of mine only did one project(5 months) because he couldn't handle the stress and pressure, so he said fuck this.
It's not easy to fool recruiter people, spoke to few guys who are doing interviews right now and they have 2-3 hour long interviews, they ask you fucking everything.

Przepraszam, is so easy to actually see if someone have any idea what is talking about in programming. your only chance is to be interviewed by the shit hr department.
with that 2 months training you can probably aim at a low profile java support. something like you have a paper with question to ask the client, and solution to give, copy paste style. no way in hell you can get a programmer seat for more than 1 week in a competent department.
best of luck anyway.

How did you come to this conclusion?
BTW how can they even know that you found a job? Just apply somewhere, get the job, don't tell them and don't give them any of your money

That's why I quit all that bullshit and be on my own. I just did not felt comfortable to have 6 yrs of resume at the end of the day. It works for some people but I still have my integrity and it just didn't seem right.
I have been trying to practice on my own, writing couple hundred lines of codes each day just to get grasp of it. There is still a lot of practice to be done. It would help me tremendously to get some sort of entry level position so I can work on on smaller to bigger projects and have some guidance. heh.
Fuck it, laugh all you want. It maybe was not the wisest idea but oh well.

I'm not laughing at you, nor your effort and if you left it all by your own, I'm even more impressed and
Now just writing something where you can't see any results isn't much fun and especially java can be a bit boring because it is rather complex to write something that keeps your attention.
If you learn any object oriented language, all the others will be 100 times easier, so I suggest learn something that is more enjoyable, where you can see immediate results.
Nobody wants to write the 100.000th guess-a-random-number game. But what about a ball that is moving in a room upon user input? And then adding that it stops when it tries to leave the screen area. And then enhancing the movement off the ball by adding speed to it. And acceleration. Then bumping off the wall... oh, let's add a player controlled paddle and let the ball move with some initial speed. And now some blocks that disappear on collision. Congratulations, your first self made breakout game
