By ICS, did you mean Android?  Android only has three fonts (well, Android 4 has a fourth one: Roboto), so I wouldn't worry about that - Android always gets the fallback "sans-serif".

Hm, can't say the font is smaller on my iPhone (both iPhone and iPad support the new font). On the other hand, this is better to read because the font is much better.

That's because the version you installed doesn't have hinting, and Windows can't handle fonts without hinting.

Great, Firefox has DirectWrite. Enable that for much better font rendering.
