Spikey ... The only thing I can think of right now is that you are using some other drivers for your IDE controller than the default drivers that come with Windows. You're probably using the nVidia IDE drivers. Uninstall them and see what happens. I know it's solved my problems with SFNightmare.
This is stated in numerous SF related nfos.

Drvre, you're right, that's the problem. On my config, SFN works ok with nVidia IDE drivers from 5.10 unified driver on nForce2 mobo.. Didn't worked before (it would hang) when i had newer version of the IDE driver installed..

last night i tried a couple of times to get this GT LEGENDS monkey to get installed, but with no luck..
Didnt have sp2 installed, but d/l it right now, but a thing in the NFO isnt clear to me:
10 Select in this order "Disable node" , "Disable CD" , "Disable node" , and
the IDE channel you use for real CD/DVD units (Pr. Slave , Sc. Master o Sc.
Slave ) , depending on how your IDE units are connected
After enabling sfcure, installing it mounted in Deamon tools, double clicked sfdrup.exe, and rebooted my pc i started sfcure again through run and browsing to the file, and giving it OK (!start.bat) and then i should use sfn.exe
i got a DVDR and a CDR on the secondairy master ánd slave, so in what order should i use sfn.exe!?
1: disable node
2:disable cdrom
3:disable node
4:disable sec mst
(4.5:disable node seems to work)
5:disable sec slv
and do i have to keep sfn.exe running , or could i exit the program?!(can be exited after disabling above steps)
edit: updated to sp2, and went through the NFO like I did couple of times last night (without the SP2) and it started right away!!
time to get my racing wheel out of the dust

got nforce drivers for IDE installed and it also worx for me...
my fault was that i didnt had sp2 installed, after that all went great, just dont forget in Dtools to enable all simulation options......
so setup.bat for sfcure, mount with all options and install, execute sfdrup and reboot, after reboot start.bat sfcure via RUN and browse to it.. then use sfnightmare and it should work, it could be after starting you should reset once more for the game, and every time before you want to play, start.bat sfcure via RUN and run sfnightmare and it works great....

sfn barely works....unplugg the drive manually...if ur talking about hiding virtual drives, sfn doesnt do that - get virtual cd hide
