I don't think you are aware of the fact that these words don't exactly mean what you mean :3
There is no more PB. Correction: there are no more same PB who made Gothic 1-3. many people who made core team left. Now, PB is like that Spellbound - some small, mediocre EU developer team.
So it is pretty much predictable.

I know exactly what those words mean. Just look at gothic 1, 2 and 3. Especially at gothic 1 and 2 vs gothic 3.
Even then they were wildly inconsistent.
Also, Risen vs Risen 2.
IMOOOOOO they should drop all the pirate crap and somehow make Risen 3 start right after the original but looking at the title of the 3rd game that just won't happen.
I still don't get the point of crowbaring all that pirate crap on the series with the 2nd game all of a sudden but hey, that's PB for you

R1 was great, I would rate it almost best in series, if only they didn't fuck up the last 1/3 of the game. I alos enjoyed every G game as well, the world of the third G game was great. R2 had awful, awfully shit controls and combat. Just awful.

I'm currently replaying G3 with 1.75 and LTCM-mod.
The game world is indeed great, but, allthough the game is fun, the NPCs are still boring and the whole quest/story seems so unfinished. Nvertheless enjoyable.
The combat has become alot better and more challenging with the community patch.

I don't think you get it what I actually mean, toni. There is no more that "PB for you" who made Gothic games, such team that shared same interest and vision, ideas - fell apart. It does not matter if they will continue making Risen games about pirates or go back to Gothic series - it won't be the same good games, it will be mediocre games, just like Risen1-2 were (and yes, they were, compare to predecessor).
I've been following core Gothic forums and all internal life of PB for a while and it is really sad story. FUCKING GREEDY PIECE OF SHIT JooWood screwed them hard.

Quite old, I know, but I don't think it's been posted here. I actually see his point about the Gothic games, about why they're actually afraid of making a new one, even though I'd like one myself, even more so than a Risen game.

I think I understand, they're like "infinity ward" and "starbreeze" among others. My point was, even with all the member shuffling the products of the original team still varied in the quality department from great, very good and finally to mediocre.
And with the risen series, it went from very good to ??? (whatever Risen 2 ends up when I finally played, although I doubt it will come even close to the original which I liked).
I'm still hoping for a decent 3rd game, pirate themed or not (and maybe I'm pinning too much of what I've found bad in Risen 2 to the theme change). It's just with their track record... nothing is certain

Yep, that was my problem as well with the game (that I still enjoyed  ). It got a bit better once you 'unlocked' all the moves/abilities but still, Risen 1 was on another planet entirely.
If they bring back that system and actually test the game properly this time around, this new Risen can be good. More rewarding exploration wouldn't hurt either, because I felt like it was very lacking at times, and the copy-pasta environments didn't help really.
It's their last chance, I think they're aware of that, and if they blow this up, then even the most hardcore fans will abandon the ship.  (most of them already have) |

Yeah, Risen 1 had a good start, it was pretty damn good RPG, however it left with a hollow feeling like the game... didn't live up to its possible potential? I really was hoping that Risen 2 will nail it, but, well... we all know what happened.

Yep, hope never dies. I'm curious about R3 but don't ave any expectations like for Witcher 3 or LoS2.
I believe we will get official info about new game in Feb/March.

Gothic community was spectacular, just take a look at at the content they produced for Gothic 2 (mods, addons, full fledged conversions) and G3 (the community patch this was really something, fans loved Pb and their games so much so they decided to help them fix the mess). With the release of Risen they managed to give a slight hope to the community (after G3/JooWood fiasko), managed to "buy some time" if I may say. But Risen 2 blew it hard. I never considered myself hardcore fan, but I was quite a fan. Until I saw Risen 2 :< Or, rather, when I saw that Risen 2 was pretty much Arcania 2. And if I managed to play Arcania just for the lulz (literally), R2 managed to bore me to death after 1-2 hours.
