Don't misunderstand me, its a very useful skill, and I intend to max it on my bladedancer. But for every other toon, I think its not worth it. You can get it on every toon to expert, so that 7 points, so 2 and 1/3 levelups. For that 2 levelups you get 17 evasion, which is not bad in the beginning, but later on it means nothing. Monsters have such a high attack rating, that you will only evade once a year.

Haha, gotcha! I'll stick to using/levelling for my Blade Dancer alone then, concentrate on other - more important - skills for the rest. Much appreciated

Just to throw some numbers around:

Evade counterbalances the enemy attack rating, but it's rather bad for it. For equal values, so for example 50 evade against 50 attack that mean around 17% miss chance. To get 50 evade, you need to pump points into dodge AND destiny. And what does 50 attack mean? The first mobs, the spiders. Those are the ones with 50 attack. Militia have 75. And so on, the strongest mobs have around 200.

To top it all, there is a diminishing return, so 75-75 is only around 14% miss chance.

Pretty worthless if you ask me, maybe not so with GM and destiny build (so only bladedancer).

There is no offical formula ofc, but this was tested with a sample of 100 strikes. Not a big sample I know, but it's good enough for a rough estimate.

ps: Oh, and defend gives 15 evade. You can see it's equally worthless, maybe useful in the first few hours of the game, but later on it's only for passing the turn. They should change it to a percentage bonus (or a flat number+percentage bonus, so toons without evade can profit a bit) or a damage reduction.

Yea, my Bladedancer was GM in dodge and had over 120 evade rating or so i think.
Still she got hit nearly equally often like for example my Paladin with nearly no evade rating.
Especially big enemies like Dragons or Minotaurs didn't care for evade rating at all lol.

Thanks again guys, it's much appreciated Smile it seems like Ubi really did put a lot of effort into this, especially compared to the alpha, now I'm even more looking forward to it when I get home Very Happy

Yeah the Gameplay part is great, from the technical side its a disaster unfortunately and i dont think the engine is at fault here, Blackguards which just came out and also uses unity engine looks and runs 10 times better, same with Rust.
Btw did anyone see the resume from the guys who made this game: http://www.limbic-entertainment.de/de/spiele-de/archiv
its really a whonder this game even came out as good as it is.

As long as it runs better than the horrible alpha, I'll be happy! But yeah, nothing about it seemed as strenuous as it turned out to be.

Is this a problem with the reloaded release only or the same for the retail version?

There is an error with the game switching from early access to full game:
http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/826555-Important-Notice-if-you-can%E2%80%99t-access-Act-2?s=63f003d53f68ec352a210f23b9951493

That said, I think this problem is the result of a communication error with the Ubisoft servers (Uplay yay!), and affects ppl playing offline (yarr too ofc). I bought the game, and I didnt have this problem.

Making a proper party makes a world of difference, I actually enjoy the combat now that I'm not getting my ass kicked.

Should I explore first or is finishing Thieves Den and/or Lighthouse smarter in the beginning?

Thieves Den should be a bit easier but both have a "boss" encounter, I'd recommend killing everything in the area you can explore (Minus a certain tomb, do enter the caves though.) oh and if you have the means to do so getting some decent spells or even training to expert in one spell category can make a difference although from what I remember Sorpigal doesn't offer too many spells.
(Same goes for training with weapons, since early-access the shield trainer is in another area which is kinda sucky since it's easy to find shields requiring expert rank even in this early area.)

EDIT: Oh and the lighthouse does not have a safety railing, do keep that in mind. Razz

Sorpigal had plenty of spells for both novice and expert level. Grab the fire/earth spells first. Those will help you the most in the area (damage and ward for fire, healing and ward for earth ).

Thanks for the help. Is there any logic behind the barrels or is it just random? The bonusses are permanent right?

Bonuses are permanent, I believe the barrels are static (Loot however is randomized other than relics.) and the effect as in earlier games depend on it's colors although now there's just positive effects. Smile
(Either resistance to a certain element or a attribute bonus, both with a plus one point to the chosen character.)

EDIT: Oh and I'm not quite sure believe there's at least ten barrels per attribute, not quite sure how many there are for resistances but I think it's something similar.

I always save before i use a barrel and reload if i get the wrong stat for a class. It's always the same.

Thanks. I wasted a couple of barrels (useless bonuses for class). I'll save/reload in the future.
