How does the detect secrets thing work? I have that chick in the party from the beginning as well as casting that dark magic spell but I never see any "secrets". How are they identified? What exactly am I looking for or what sets it apart from being a secret vs. something I would have found just by walking around?

@Mikey You only see them when directly next to them. Those marks (yellow symbols) also only appear on walls. Often your characters will say something too that there is something

Speaking of secrets, I like all the backtracking and secret areas in this game. Those two powerful ghosts in the ruins in Act 1 are actually guarding a multi-level dungeon and I haven't been able to beat it yet with my party at level 18.

Are acts self-contained or can you return to earlier areas later in the game, in subsequent chapters?

You've asked that several times now, I'll just reiterate; Uplay bonuses haven't been cracked in the past - and the game data has always been there too, just like Flashback remake the comes with the SNES ROM original as a bonus, the data was there but it wouldn't work/unlock on the pirated copy of the game. In fact, even the Uplay Ownership Tool hack couldn't/didn't do it. So yes, it must be that hard if nobody has done it yet Wink

-snes original is unlocked in Flashback v1.2 rld crack
-all AC games have unlocked Uplay bonuses through saves
-FC3 have it unlocked thatx to username/profilecode combination
-driver SF through save patcher
-anno 2070 with latest crack/dlc have uplay mission unlocked

not sure about the rest

Then I stand corrected and apologise, I hadn't seen any Uplay rewards cracked in the past and certainly not by a file change. It seems like any hacks are save/account based.

I attempted that boss earlier today and it would kill me in two shots of its purple spray before I could even get near it.

It is a bug. I had the same problem, try this solution which worked for me:

The only issue now is you won't be able to cross the bridge outside the castle, so when you have to go back to the Act 1 areas you'll need to use fast travel.

Yeah, thats really a difficult area. I managed to beat the two ghosts at the entrance ... but when you enter it... omg
Is that dungeon (later) part of the mainquest?

Did anybody manage to find good maces/clubs ? My orc barbarian is skilled in maces on master and even on level 15 I am still using a green, old one, because there are (as it seems) no good maces to be found.
At the weapon shops are always blue swords and bows and crossbows and daggers and spears to buy - but no maces Crying or Very sad

But you can buy good weapons in second town.

As usual with these games the best gear is found in the later dungeons or guarded by a strong champion type enemy. The UPlay dungeon "Temple of Meow" also had some really nice equipment but it's a very short dungeon and if I read correctly it's aimed at a very high level party, around level 30 to 40 or some such. (Which makes sense I suppose since that's where I found the best equipment, it was also the last area in the game left to explore and now there's nothing else left.) (There's the Limbo Dungeon though wherever it is, at worst it's linked to the dragon altars and I do not fully know how those work.) EDIT: That's the temple -> And these are just some extras, I hit a harpy in the knee and that dreamreaver got shot in the eye, unsure if arrows have some pre-determined location they stick in depending on stuff like critical hits or if it's entirely random, I've shot a few creatures in the head but this is the first time I specifically hit the eye of one, and the knee of course. (It's a small complaint but the game could have done with some better textures, then again many assets are lifted directly from the Heroes 5 and 6 games - perhaps only heroes 6 - plus Dark Messiah so getting the original art assets might have been difficult, plus it's open world and Unity Engine and it already takes a lot of RAM and loading compared to how it looks.)

Thanks JBeckman, good to know that the games goes that far in terms of leveling (and that without respawn...). May I ask how far your party got (highest level = Level 50 ?) when you had cleared and explored all areas and finished the game? thx

Four party members (I guess you have to have that?) and none of the hirelings that improve XP, most of the time I had the pack horse so I could have two inventory pages and the second slot was taken by a quest related NPC since I only got the item to reach his destination area towards the end of the game due to a oversight with a missed item in one location.

Anyway I was between 33 - 37 for the characters, level cap is 50 and there's a achievement for getting all four to 40 in one playthrough but I don't think you can reach the cap at 50 without monsters being able to respawn.
(Even if you take both of the +10% XP hirelings and do all quests and kill everything, you might be able to get all four party members a bit over 40 though.)

Level alone will be a nice help with getting higher attributes and getting more skills to master or grandmaster (requires class promotion) levels but it's all going to be depending on gear and spells, whether from potion buffs or scrolls or direct spellcasting. Smile

There's some really annoying casters later on in the game whom can dispel plus paralyze, feeblemind (prevents casting.) and weaken so it's very important to have means to counter this, particularly paralyzation which is a instant death if all four members of the party get that condition.

EDIT: Mod support is planned however once the tools get updated (But for full functionality a Unity Engine Pro license is also needed for those tools so that hampers things.) and there's a planned expansion, one of the bonuses of getting the Deluxe edition was getting it for free.

I ended up finishing the dungeon. There's a quest related to it for the Paladin promotion, but since I don't have a Paladin in my group all I could do was kill and loot everything.

The dwarf exclusive club?
(There seems to be three areas where you need to have a specific racial character, orc, elf or dwarf.)

That area is up in the mountains behind castle Portmeyron or what it's name was, that little swirling teleporter can take you to that area once you have the means to use it.

Hmmm ... but in the armor shops in the city there are often (very expensive) items being sold that offer 100% protection against weakness / feeble-mind / stun ... and so on.
So, it may be useful to buy these items if offered. Good to know...
