Just this once: THERE ARE NO TANKS IN THIS GAME! Smile Enemies can hit any of your characters, it's just pure RNG. Yes, there is a skill that forces a creature to attack a given hero but it doesn't work on quite a lot of enemies. There is no front/back row so take it into consideration and don't make your healer/mage glass cannon. Invest in Vitality! Without it your less armored/agile chars will be often one shotted and without them many fights will be simply impossible.

This is my main beef with the game. They should have kept the front/back system because it adds a layer of realism to the game. Also, they should allow you to move. It's a system that would be easy to add and would make the game so much better.

Right now, you should really just get 4 fighters and be done with because there's little reason to have a weak mage who drops dead after two hits. You run out of mana too quickly so in the end, a fighter who does constant good damage is better than a mage who can do large damage and then runs out of mana and dies in the next turn Rolling Eyes

Basically, this game is old school but a simplistic version of old school and that's where it goes wrong. These old games were more complex than this game gives them credit for - combat is a little too flat right now because of that. Having no choice over where you'll be when combat starts is just lame - it's easy to get stuck in a place and get surrounded because you can't step back one block so you can fight one at a time.

Despite this, it's a decent game and 7/10 is about right.

What do you mean kept? AFAIR in previous MM games there was no front/back row; all chars were always in one row. As for the rest of your post seems like the game simply doesn't suit your personal view which you find superior to anything else. I won't even bother comment on things like mages are useless, 4 warriors all the way and oversimplicity. You're simply wrong, my friend and seems like you're just too frustrated. Game too hard? Smile

Yeah, i really like the graphics, this kind of games are usually a lot uglier (maybe because the last game i played on this genre was Paper Sorcerer). I can't ask for more for a game like this, im happy with the results.

Absolutely, positively, 100% certain I'm running the RLD release.

The "letter" I picked up is stuck in my sidebar inventory, seems like it wants me to use it, but I already talked to the Governor.

According to the quest log I've already arrived at the place I'm supposed to go, despite the fact that I've never been.

Also, a quest I picked up from the Governor's daughter never seemed to register in my log, and the option to reselect the dialog is now gone.

And lastly, the Bestiary quest I picked up in the initial town doesn't seem to register progress, as I have way more than 10 mob types fully researched.

Such a goddamn shame to hit a brick wall of bugs, as I was just starting to really get into this! Sad

It seems to be an old school manual check. Here is what I have found on it from Ubi boards...

Quote:
Hi, I just discovered that for me, the problem was caused by my own stupidity. On <snip>, the developers write that you have to redeem a code in the options menu of the game ("bonus content") to access all content. I put in the code on a card on top of the game manual instead of the one on the game manual which I is just the code for MMVI (I actually just put in the first code I could get my hands on as I didn't think there would be several in the box). I just entered the right code (on the manual) and now I can travel to the forge. So maybe some other people with the same problem also haven't entered the code yet.

Try this, thanks to a guy on RPGCodex;

You need to redeem the key IN-GAME. Start the game -> click bonus content/extras -> input the key from the manual and redeem. It won't work in UPlay itself, only in-game.

Oh right - that explains why I never played M&M games much in the past Laughing VI, VII, VIII and IX were pretty shit I found and childish compared to other RPGs of its time. I actually confused the series with the much superior Wizardry series.

And nah, game not too hard - it's just too simplistic. There's not much strategy to combat besides whacking enemies with the weapons you have. It's just disappointing to see so little depth.

About the wizard thing - well I guess it might change in the future of the game but so far, it's a useless character which forces me to camp constantly to heal and regain mana with no combat advantage.

Why camp? Just stack up on potions. Hell, you can even have an npc with you that sell you more potions incase you need them.

Must be something with the PC version, I didn't need to do anything like that.
(Though for the UPlay edition they specifically mention that you should uninstall the early-access version first since it's separate from the full game, it won't update form it to full.)

Also about that quest I thought it was a nod to M&M 6 where you took the prince to a circus, here there's a daughter of that baron that wants to visit something similar but instead of the quest starting the father simply tells her to stop bothering the player which cancels out the quest.

EDIT: Steam version, not PC version ah I'm too tired again.

Has anyone figured out how to unlock the Uplay "DLC" without having actually played with Uplay? I'm sure it must be something as simple as editing a file or such:

Three of the four are in-game items. And given that it appears the files are already present, it's entirely possible they can and will be enabled (if not already)

Uplay rewards haven't been cracked in the past, so I don't see why they'd be done now.

I honestly tried to play MM10. I just couldn't. But..You know what's funny.. I would gladly play MM10 if it was developed on the good old MM6-7 engine. Yeah.. The same way I preferred Duke Nukem to Quake in terms of graphics. And besides.. They should have kept the way movement was done in the previous installments(6+). Although it worked flawlessly in Grimrock, it sucks in this game.. It's..I dunno.. clumsy,.it feels wrong.

Anyone wanna help me figure out how to enable the Uplay exclusives? The dungeon, hirling, etc? I'm looking at the game files and it's all included, you just need to enable it somehow. It's probably a single line you have to switch somewhere.

4 hours into the game. I'm so ambivalent about this game.

It got me hooked I must admit it, but:

- the graphics are fugly, not quite readable, they disorient me in open maps
- plus the performance can really drop sometimes
- the maps are really simplistic and claustrophobic, there are 4 dungeons each "5 tiles" apart from each other, also the maps are boring or rather everything is so clustered together I can make much logic in that design
- the skill tiers are boring and does not encourage me to put points into them, I wish it was something like in MMVI-VIII where you got some real advantage from being a grandmaster and not just 20% less resistance to water for example
- combat might be simplistic but it's actually the part I enjoy the most but I hate the fact that I can't disengage the enemy
- and half of the skills look useless to me, most bosses can't be stunned or entangled, entangling enemies in dungeons due to the cornerish design of the maps is usually impossible and entangling them anyway is useless too, because if one of your characters took combat action you can't move Sad

For anyone saying they have trouble - buy healing spells they are the basis for combat.

I took them at level 13. Dont use fireball or other group based spells but rather take one out as fast as you can to reduce the damage they do to your team.
