Some screens:
Spoiler: |
Like how this guy starts hopping around on his crossbow.
Oh it's one of those things again.
Just exploring, finding a cave.
(Completely ignoring the Inferno hall in the background...)
Well I'm completely fucked now, still it beats level scaling.
(It's a shadow dragon, one of the strongest creatures of Heroes 6 besides Elite/Champion "boss" units.)

EDIT: Oh I'm dead again aren't I?

I guess I'll grab this tonight. I still have three more levels to go to finish Grimrock. Forgot I never finished it. Then I'll get to MMX

A few quick, mind-boggling questions -
1. What is the point of having specialized defenders/tanks if the enemy can chose to attack anyone in the party they want (there's no way to have your dwarf shield warrior stand in front of mages/archers)?
It seems like this makes going all offense the only sensible option.
2. What is the point of having ranged characters if ranged weapons are gimped 50% in melee range, and once in melee range there's no backing off?
It seems like archers/rangers are completely useless.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

In the old series, the bloody archer was always an option. And where the hell is my thief????!
And an archmage that can't be a grandmaster on all the elemental schools????!! Seriously?!! WTF?!
To get all the magic school on grandmastery you need a druid, a runepriest and a freemage...And, yeah, the bloody bladedancer can stand more attacks than a crusader or a dwarf....
But, i gotta give it to the devs: so far there is a M&M 5 feel there and linking the lore to the old M&M is kind of nice ( the innkeeper that visited the other Sorpigals...)

That's how it was in the early Might & Magic games as well, compared to say Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder your characters are essentially standing in a line rather than a box formation.
Bows are pretty useful for the long range attacks (With training and high quality bows/crossbows) I've been able to decimate many of the normal mobs although you have to keep it in a straight line and enemies can be difficult to get lined up without them getting into melee range first.
I guess down in a dungeon it would be a different story but there's some larger corridors even there from what I've seen but care has to be taken or you easily get surrounded or swarmed which is certain death when you encounter tougher foes.
(Spellcasters and enemies with ranged attacks shooting you from afar with melee monsters blocking you from getting any damage on them.)

I hope the game is better than it looks. I will dig in it more tomorrow but so far (a few meters into Sorpigal) it looks really cheap and budget.

Could someone upload the updated files from the recent small patch? I'm assuming it should work with the currrent crack, which just bypasses Uplay. Thanks!

I can't get to Act 2, the option to fly to Elemental forge is greyed out. Does anyone else have this problem? Even tried to reload a previous save.

It actually looks better than I expected.
But.. guys... I'm must say I've never been fan of the series. I remember I was playing one of the parts, rather modern one on PC few years ago and I remember that my enemies was spawning literally everywhere, wherever I moved. I mean I move ahead - enemy, I move one move back - same enemy, I move forward - again enemy. And this enemy was always leveling with me, smth broken like Oblivion. So I stopped playing becouse fun of lvling and getting better items was killed and got annoyed of all the time fighting events.
How it is in this one?

Enemies sometimes spawn out of nowhere but that is the exception to the rule. 90% of the time you can see enemies before a battle begins.

Hell, I can't think of a "rather modern one" at all other than Dark Messiah which isn't really comparable to any of the other games. I don't even think M&M IX looked that great for long after it came out (2002ish)?
Isn't this turn-based as far as the enemies are concerned? Or did that get changed to be more like something like Grimlock where you move a block at a time but the enemies don't take breaks?

This game doesn't lie, if a cave is labeled as "dangerous", you better fucking believe it.......
Spoiler: |
Or face the wrath of a rapist shadow dragon!

M&M 9 is quite the same as 6-8. Varied respawn times for the regions ranging from 1 month to one year for enemies, chests and reagents.

So the rpg'ers have trumped (at least temporarily) the legion of hump haters eh.
Thank fuck for that.
I know it shouldn't matter but it is easier to get into a game if others are also enjoying it.
I don't believe I finished any earlier M&M games other than dark messiah - turn based games never held my interest until the slew of recent indies but this 'un seems like a big mob of fun.
