If she wants to talk openly about that problem, it can't be anything too traumatic (unless she is crazy).
I had a thing with a girl once, who, during sex, would roll over, turning her back to me, and sob uncontrollably for a good minute or two, only to throw herself at me again as if nothing had happened. There was nothing I could do, she wouldn't respond or ever talk about it. I'm pretty sure she was abused or raped at some point in her life.
