A lot of cards can seem broken and overpowered if you happen to draw badly and your opponent draws well and/or you make mistakes and create openings.
Some cards just snowball out of control under the right circumstances and look unbeatable, and they are, when the stars align.
It's rare occurrences like that though that are a ton of fun to execute.
When you draw the perfect cards and have an answer for everything your opponent throws at you. It's cool.
And honestly hearthstone isn't about determining the best player between 2 players in a single game. Luck is always involved, but in the end, if you play well consistently you will come out on top and that's how the ladder system runs too.
It's just like poker, sometimes you simply lose without making a mistake, but if you just make the right plays you will win more than you lose over time and it's fine.

well since HS doesnt involve any kind of skill all there is to give someone an edge is experience and knowledge thats it , day before yesterday i went 11 -3 or so ( pc crashed on last game, i had superb opening hand but will never know how would it ended ), then i went cant recall 10-12~ wins again, next day i had 4 runs which most ended in between 0-3 wins, few might be bit higher but same shit , today one run ended at 10 or 11, another on 9 i think ( faced incredibly opening hand shamans , finished by bl at turn 7 or so, maybe was same shaman )
Its not like i was "skilled " ( whats the meaning of that i n the first place ) one day, bad next day and again good day next day . I mean sure there are people that dont have experience in arena or dont know which cards to expect and those are easy to spot, but it doesnt take long till everyone know same stuff everyone else does and its down to luck, did you draft 1 2 3, or did you get 4 5 6, did enemy draft that, or maybe he drafted shit
Rest is simple, manage cards, trade favorably, try to minimize losses to aoe and just gamble, same way you gamble in draft or card drawing
describe what exactly skill covers that experience and knowledge doesnt cover and legendaries are situational too, get into late game have ysera or deathwing = win, try beating deathwing in top deckgame, it wont matter how good you played before, how big was your board and in how many turns he would of died, because he can kill you in 1-2 hits by that time and chances you drawing something that can remove deathwing are slim if there are any and not depending on any sort of skill
i did lost to deathwing in arena, had deck that had 0 removal and generally was mediocre as i recall, think it was 10-12~ win loss thought , survived early game onslaught , took back control by late game, but he top decks deathwing, clears my board , kills me in 2 hits, 12/12 is hard to deal
Obviously this is not a manual dexterity based game. Not sure what you understand as "skill". But it requires being smart. Experience won't help you win consistently, if you're dumb.

that would fall under knowledge, this game doesnt require you to be smart, everyone is smart enough for this game unless they are born with defects
You dont exactly need to be scientist to know that running 5 5 into 4 4 is better than running 5 5 into 5 5 ( not always, but that would fall under experience, do i have full board and hes board clear class, and for some magical reason 5 5 is just that more valuable to him than 4 4 and chance to get double trade )
There are many small things and there is no new player that could beat me even with poor deck, but you dont call them stupid for not trading minnions or doing silly things, you call them inexperienced, and realize that this game is already won after he hit your face with a weapon
But each its own, i can run multiple arenas daily with infinite gold earned and i would never claim to be "skilled" or any acronym at this game or that there is such thing as being "skilled" in HS
But if that makes you feel better, there are plenty who would agree with you and would join that good/skilled group. But it should be called "experienced" as everyone will get there eventually, arena is already harder each week, just last week i stated on hs forums that getting 6 0 is easiest thing even with bad draft, but now i really have to work to get there
No turn based strategy game requires "skill". And every good strategy game requires being smart. You can have knowledge and experience, but still make wrong (not optimal) decision, if you're dumb.

The Dark Iron Dwarf nerf is pretty brutal. It's funny they changed Unleash The Hounds to 2 mana. It was fine at 4 mana imo, you just needed to drop some cards that gave global buffs to beasts, and then you could play UTH and wipe his board.
IMO they had to make Abusive Sergant same as Dark Iron Dwarf, not the opposite. There are so many cards that give perma extra health.
Unleash The Hounds buff was not necesarry but as a Hunter player, I like it.

I agree with most of what you said. Surely there is no real "skill" involved, more knowledge and experience and a good amount of luck.
The example you gave: You have a 5/5 he has a 4/4 and everyone knows you should ram a 5/5 against a 4/4 to get a better trade, right? Well not really. There are many factors that could influence that decision. What is your char and whom are you playing against? Are you controlling the board? What kind of deck are you playing (or trying if it's arena)? How much life do you guys have? Why not hitting him instead? Would he then buff it and get a better trade? Would it be wise to leave that minion with one health? Can you buff it after? How many cards both have in hand? etc, etc.
Lol what a fucking incompetent noobs over at Blizzard.
THREE patches and the same bugs are still there.. Fucking retards rather do pointless balancing than fix actual bugs.. (i mean especially the one where your minions swap positions after attacking..)

ANNNNNND everyone switched to playing hunter with UTH. Why is that every game I play, I'm faced against either hunter or priest. In my past 10 games, I only encountered 1 paladin and 9 priests...
I'm getting always the shitty hunter with secrets or lock with rushdown/murloc deck..
FYI the bug above is this one:
Fucked up my defender of Argus play in 4 out of 5 matches today...
I played Hunter even before the buff. Losing only 1 in 5 games so far
It's so weird when they make balance patches and in every new patch there is at least one new bug. The stockpile is getting enormous. The recent ones are this with random moving cards and dissapearing of quests when you reroll yor current one. Are the Blizzard programmers really that bad or they just don't care?
As fat as i have read, its only a small team from Blizzard that work on this f2p title. Its probably not Blizzards highest priority game. So not everyone at Blizzard is responsible for HS... maybe save your hate for some weird car situation. Or keep on flaming on the internetz... guess it doesnt matter.
Skillful programming results in few bugs. Small team size doesn't really matter because you can't throw people at code logic problems.
the problem is that a bug is related with lots of other modules. this bug appeared probably because they modified something totally unrelated with it.
let's say it will resolve that, but because the solution is not tested, minions exploded when they are put on board.
no matter the team size, every bug fix needs a lot of testing before going live.
and for this case the smaller the team is, the long it takes to properly test a fix.
They don't want to let you play. I think they're just preparing the PONY minion type cards so they didn't want you to see the game without them! I'm ALMOST certain that's it!
