great beauty nominated for foreign <3
it's a crime that it's all so hollywood centric
would prefer they took everything in, on the level without prejudice

I still need to watch many of these movies 'cause I'm not a movie theater aficionado, but yep, definitely rooting for Leo (..and the italian movie, so we can restore some of the lost dignity xD)

If Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't win an oscar, I'm going to be sad. Dude has some bad luck.
He just won Golden Globe, so there is a hope!

I don't know about Leo.
Bruce Dern, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Matthew McConaughey are all very strong contenders. Surprisingly no Tom Hanks?

Wow no Tom Hanks and no Joaquin Phoenix for best actor (apparently it was to be expected about Phoenix).

No Tom Hanks? The last 5-10 minutes of Captain Phillips are breathtaking, I was sure he was gonna be there.

Well, we got our nomination in the foreign category (Broken Circle Breakdown), but it seems just filler next to The Great Beauty and The Hunt.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

DiCaprio isn't bad - but he's not a transformation actor like the best.
If you want to see acting on the highest level, check out Joaquin Phoenix in The Master. Now, there's transformation.
DiCaprio shouting a lot and acting like piece of shit doesn't really make him oscar worthy.
That said, it's all political bullshit anyway.

I was surprised to see Lone Ranger at the razzies to be honest, sure it bombed, but I actually enjoyed it.
I really dont think it deserves the shit it gets, and the razzies should set an example to the academy and pick films on merit, not what the press thinks.

i enjoyed it too, it was a pretty solid fun adventure film. just a case of people wanting to see 'big names, big ideas and big money' fail. it wasnt flawless, but it wasnt after earth either.

Smaug trumps robots and some space debris, so yes.

Unfortunately Smaug is where all the money for FX in Hobbit went.
Pacific Rim all the way. And I'm judging overall effects and not some flying lizard.
