WOW! They screwed up this game, feels like some rushed up piece of shit beta. The game cant even be played with shader quality on max, it looks all screwed up. It aint my card either - eVGA 6800Ultra Driver set 77.77.

This game has alot of problems, and its a damn shame cause it looks so nice. Mad

Im dissappointed. Mad

I was going to buy this game, now I am going to hold off until they release some patch to fix all the bullshit.

Its called, NEW DRIVERS, eVGA, lol get a proper brand, then complain.

Yeah, you need to update your drivers man. Game runs flawlessly here. No gfx problems at all, and everything at max runs great. I kinda find the game enjoyable.

It has nothing to do with the crack, cause it works perfectly here. Did you try pressing your Pause/Break key? If your not aware, it's located above the arrow keys.

!offtopic!

Wow that helps me alot and BTW eVGA runs just as good as any other 6800 ultra card.

You have no idea what you're talking about: If eVGA was crap, I would not be getting over 5800 points in 3Dmark 05

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=386211

Thats a damn high score for any 6800ultra card to have, plus All my games run flawlessly especially having shader model 3.0 on games that support it. You dont own a eVGA card so how the hell can you talk shit about it. pls!

Anyways back to the topic. Game feels and plays like a beta. I wont be buying until patch. Whateva!

What driver set's are you using Clevesa? The latest offcial drivers on Nvidia website is 78.01 or some crap. But those drivers are not much of an update to the 77.77 driver set that im using.

A game has gone gold when it has been finished and is ready to be duplicated (in other words, no byte can change anymore after this step)

I'm using the 81.84 drivers, Who-CareZ. If this drivers won't work for you either, then trying rolling back to 77.76, I've heard they are good as well with AOE3.

Or maybe the Audigy2 drivers interfear with the onboard sound when he enable it.

i uninstalled the drivers for the audigy2 after i took card out, then rebooted and enabled onboard sound in bios then installled the latest AC97 drivers, funny thing is i can play the game fine with sound disabled ingame using onboard or with Audigy, turn it back on then exit to desktop, i've also tried with sound acceleration turned right down also, its deffo a sound issue otherwise why play ok without it. Only other thing is i'm using a x800xtpe.

Only thing i gained so far is a spare Audigy2 ZS that now aint doing nothing and the onboard seems just as good, lol

anyway until a patch is release (and crack for the patch, lol) this is comming of the Pc

I have the same problems. I have C-Media CMI8738 on-board sound and I get sound glitches/no sound/crashes to desktop. Changing the sound acceleration doesn't help at all. I had it in the demo and I still have it in the final version. Especially the game engine cutscenes always ctd. I tried the no sound shortcut and turned sound and music off in the game options and I could finally watch the complete first cutscene. But of course I won't play a game without sound. I can't believe this! What did Ensemble do with all the bug reports?? I sent them a detailed report+age3log.txt+dxdiag.txt and I guess dozens of other people did the same. Sad

Bethrezen wrote:
I've a problem, it says:

Old or corrupted graphics driver.
Direct 3D improperly installed.
Hardware acceleration disabled.
Starting the application with the workstation locked.

Running on Windows XP, got newest drivers and dirextX 9c. Any ideas?

I had this too. The funny thing is I DID NOT have this with the demo. I found a way to fix it on my PC. I needed to set my desktop resolution to 60Hz then I could start it and select another resolution+refresh rate in-game. After doing this one time it didn't matter anymore which refresh rate I had for my deskop resolution. It's always working now. It's really sad that Ensemble managed to introduce even more bugs instead of fixing the reported ones. Mad

you might try searching thru the registry for any audigy or sb references and deleting them that way..uninstalling drivers never seems to completely clean it. anyways that is if you think its worth it. im a little interested in finding out whats causing it but not enough to wipe windows clean or anything like that. guess ill wait for a patch from somebody. anyways i have a dozen or so newish games im playing with zero hw probs whatsoever so ill just stick with those in the meantime.

Well, having played aoe3 now since it came out, i must admit i kinda like it, but its not the great game i was hoping for. It looks good and plays rather smooth, even on my oldish system. One thing that really bugged me, was the speech, it was laggin behind with everything from 5 to 40 seconds. So i poked about abit, figuring it wasnt meant to be like this Razz

Firstly i checked creatives autodriver-installer site (http://www.creative.com/language.asp?sDestUrl=/support/downloads/su.asp) but it told me i had the latest version of the driver installed.
So i checked dxdiag, and saw that the driver being used was signed by microsoft, and called something emu****.sys. I might be a noob, but when i driver name starts with emu, somthing i s off. Thinking it was located in the register, i opened it up, and searched for "Device Presence". (which is the sound card preferences in teh register). There are 3 options:
(Default)
Emulated
VxD
WDM

I saw that some of those entries had Emulated set to 1, and VxD and WDM to 0, so i changed all the hits i got into Emulated 0, and VxD and WDM to 1. Then i rebooted, and looked at my dxdiag page again, to see what driver it was using, still no luck, driver said emu***.sys.

So i downloaded the latest driver from creative, manually, and installed it. After the reboot, i see that im finally using the correct driver, ctaud***.sys and that it was signed by creative. Now i played another campaign map, and the sound was playing correctly. YAY.

So anyone of you having sound issues, might wanna try the above steps, and see if that helps.

I've been having sound problems as well, mine crashes to desktop about 15 sec into the game, and makes that buzzing sound. This is indeed with a sblive! like other peoples whove been having these probs. Not to concerned though, judging by these posts, the game is a bit crap. Plus i have a midterm to study for.

But: Has anyone else has the strange problem of your mouse pointer not clicking the right place in the main menu? I mean when you click, it wont register on a button, unless you move the cursor a little ways off. I just thought this was an odd bug to have, anyone else?

Theres a pause key on your keyboard.

My problem is that the spoken dialogue takes a long time to actually be spoken...it will display the subtitles on the screen but wait 5-20 seconds before they actually begin talking, and the whole game waits for it to catch up.

Wich keys is that? i pushed all key, no succes Crying or Very sad

Its the Pause aka Break aka ScrLk key on your keyboard. I had the same problem, but found it out by pressing all keys Smile
