i think it was probably originally that you had to play it, but once they saw how fucked their traditionally unstable servers had become, they changed it to just 'click and its yours'.

Nah, it was just poor wording on their part. You only had to click install which adds it to your library which is permanent. Then you can just cancel/pause it.
I think they just said install because, if I remember right, that's what the button says instead of buy now.

Exactly. I stopped playing LONG time ago due to the community being one of the worst, srsly the BF community is better.. And now I can't imagine what scum is gonna come to the already terrible community.

Make a privat server, invite your friends or family (srsly coop games like this are best played with ppl you know anyway) problem solved.

Play a lot of public games, in any video game and simply friend invite the few that actually want to play as a team and invite those people to your server later for future co-op games. Playing publicly hosted games are great that way, sure there is a lot of terrible players, but once in a while you meet good ones, which makes public gaming smart to do on occasion in my opinion - especially when your current friends-list isn't into a specific game anymore.

95% of the time, yes!!
but i still say one of the best and most memorable multiplayer experiences ive had, was playing left 4 dead with a bunch of random chinese guys. they were pretty good, and they were singing in chinese while they played, it was hilarious. never would had that experience if i just played with people i knew!! |

Great move to advertize L4D; So the Left 4 Dead 3 rumors/leak may turn out to be true. Not sure what they could add to a third installment to make it worth playing over the previous ones though.

Pretty cool Valve did this. I was able to get a copy for my son, took f'ing forever to get the site working though. I don't think they were quite prepared for that amount of traffic. Told some friends too. I already had it myself, gotta love the price for those who don't. As for all the fewls on Steam forums complaining, fuck 'em. I paid $50 for the game and could care less if people get it free. Now maybe it's possible to find a game. Last few times I tried, there was pretty much nobody playing it.
