1. Antichamber (somehow this beast managed to find a deep connection with my twisted gaming needs)
2. Outlast (horror done right, with a good balance between the surprise motherfucker factor and sense of tension)
3. Gunpoint (best stealth game of the year *:face*)
4. Shadowrun Returns (still playing it with a big smile on my face, while waiting for Berlin)
5. Papers, Please (KillerCrocker's favourite game xD)

It was hard and I feel bad for having left games like Gone Home, The Swapper, The Stanley Parable, Dust and many others out, but rules are rules. Razz

I can never remember what came out when, but the best Indies I have played lately are:

Brothers: A tale of Two Sons - Co-oping your left and right hands.. Brilliant! A really Beautiful game.

Papo & Yo: Another beautiful rendered game, good puzzle and great emotional story.

Paper Sorcerer: The way Grimrock allowed me to re-live the Eye of the Beholder days Paper Sorcerer brings back memories of the old Wizardry games.. It's cheap ($5) and has been greenlit.

Swapper: Atmosphere x1000, the main game mechanic is cloning yourself, then transferring to your clones body and then (eventually) killing you former body!! nice!!!

Primordia: This came out in December of last year, too late for many best of the year awards. Excellent story, would love to see more games set in this universe.

Honorable Mention - Darkout: I have just started playing it, but it has held my attention better than Terreria did, It has a story and I haven't needed a wiki to play it (yet)

Of course I have at least a dozen Indies from the past year sitting in my Steam backlog including Gunpoint, 'Papers, Please', Dust,,etc.. that I haven't even touched..

Ok, after a nearly 2-week marathon of 2013 (a total of indie games I'm ready to post my 5 nominees Smile

1. Antichamber (my 2013 indie GOTY).
2. The Swapper (very close second).
3. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.
4. Papers, Please.
5. Shadowrun Returns.

Special mention for other indie titles I genuinely enjoyed like: Gunpoint, The Stanley Parable, Gone Home and Outlast, among others. Like I mentioned in other threads, this is the best year in indie games that I remember.
