Seriously, there's been plenty of arena shooters over the past years - not more or less than there were 10 years ago. People just don't buy them anymore and an arena shooter without people playing, is worthless. Also, most FPS games get deathmatch tagged on anyway as MP component - people just love large open maps more these days than enclosed zones. |
Played all arena shooters, that got released. Was part of some atrocious betas as well. Nothing compares to 2k4.
I'll love whoever, who makes a good skill based, good looking, solid movement based shooter.
Games are products.
And yes, it's completely a gen-y thing to hate on success. Fkin hipsters. I'm buying products, not the nice things people say to spin it. I'm a realist, and I like, that Cliffy is not a fake dude. He says, what he thinks all the time. He bet on consoles, when consoles had it going better. He was wrong, so now he bets on PC. Completely rational, and people, who are decision-making positions completely understand that.

There is some merit about shiting on pc gamers, doesn't all lay at cliffies door though, mainly epic and mark rein, back in the ut , ut2k3 days there was such a huge family like community (from original infogrammes) and onward, basically epic jumped ship from pc to console and treated a loyal pc fan (now called customer) base terribly.
started out with mass deletion of posts and banning of long standing and well respected forum members and then simply ignoring pleas observations and constructive critisms from the very people that helped in a small way to bud the company .
many of the original cheat / hack techniques where actually developed by the community (antitcc anyone, see the significance of my Monica ?)
anyhow they took the queens shilling or devils gold depending on what side of the pond your on and effectively stuck 2 fingers up to the old community, but hey business is business right ?
Bytes (looong time humper , seldom poster , pist on g&t's in some random hotel , struggling to type correctly on this dam phone)

Since I still play quake live I would welcome a new twitch and strategy based fps shooter. Wasn't 2GD supposedly working on some shooter as well though, might be interesting if something happens there as well.
Would just be so nice if there was some competitive fps games out there except CS:GO and QL.

CliffyCliff lost his chance to redeem himself ages ago, now he's only a blabbering clown without any credibility here in the masterrace world. He clearly is aware of that and he's desperately trying to regain some points, but I fear it's too late 
Though if he really wants to do something interesting for once, go ahead, surprise us  I wouldn't mind an UT clone done right without any compromises/dumbifications..which is like asking for the moon

The main reason why I can't stand DerpyD is due to his attitude towards PC gamers............. when he was at his popularity height during the Gears of Bore fanaticism, of course. Saying how he wants the games to stay exclusive and that PC gamers are pirates who are savvy enough to know how to steal, so why should they pay? As Ixi rightly said; he has, in my eyes and my opinion, had his chance to make good on the PC but he blew it and he insulted the entire userbase by doing so, now he comes crawling back? Forget it.
