I think that it requires more CPU power to use physics in a game like TR than HL2, not sure though, could be wrong Razz

Now don't make me say what I never said : the fact the PS4/ONE version will have new features isn't because it's more powerful than PC, but more like because it's out almost 1y later.

I'm sure if they want, they can patch PC version to have it on par... Will they ? That's another matter...

BTW it's hard to say on these tiny screenshots/trailers but it doesn't seem like the "next gen version" uses Tesselation... Could be wrong though but it looked like her shoulders were nicer on PC to me....
The AMD GPU should be able to do Tesselation without much performance loss so I would be surprised...

Not quite on the same level I think. It seems to be more about details, with smallest objects being less static. Like we have in BF4 with every piece of equipment on the character and even the vest itself bending and sort of moving around, cloth apparently folding and bending, grass reacting to your movements and wind gusts/downdrafts... stuff like that.

And it seems their goal for this new version of the game is to add stuff like that.

Can't say I will complain, except for the price. Would be better if they ask people 10$ to upgrade the ps3/360 version...

Why would it? The physics calculations are done on the raw object, not their fully rendered forms Smile

Do we really need start listing out all the fucking console exclusive DLC? Fortunately because we're on PC, we've often been able to get that DLC by hacking it out of the packed game files (since in 99% of all cases, the actual files are still there already, just no "DLC" to "unlock" it).

Congratulations on picking Dark Souls as well, which was an atrocious port, so having extra content doesn't really make that right. And that content came to the consoles later anyway. There's been some exclusive content on PC on a few occasions, but nowhere near as much as consoles compared to PC (with each console even getting their own exclusive shit sometimes).

I won't. And I was referning to late Ports not fast DLC's. also the fact that you can "add" the content by modding or hacking the game I can argue that it subtract your whine even further.

Exactly. It's not uncommon for late ports to get additional content to entice people to double dip.

Gears of War PC had a whole new chapter.
Assassin's Creed PC had additional "tasks" (dunno how to call them lol).
Resident Evil 6 PC had the L4D2 crossover content.
Deadly Premonition PC had bonus skins.

Even if we look at console games:

Resident Evil 4 on PS2 had whole new sidechapters and minigames.
Alone in the Dark on PS3 had polished mechanics.

If a game is set to launch months/years later on another platform why not improve it? Confused

Very good point. I can argue that PC gamers should be thankful for additional content regardless if it's officially released or not cuz there is a chanch they will be emulated/modded later.

Late ports? The game you picked is the very DEFINITION of a late port.

That's okay though, I suppose PC gamers should just have to suck up getting crappy ports and either having to figure out hacks to enable DLC or paying for them all the same years after the console versions come out. Because, you know, reasons.

You'd be pissed off as hell if the same kept happening to consoles over and over, you damn hypocrite. The list of late ports for the PC is endless and in most cases don't actually come with all DLC. The other way around it's the opposite, the few late ports for consoles that do come out always come with all the DLC - often even new shit.

What are you trying to show me off on a picture of the PC version (blurry non the less, probably FXAA screenshot then) ?
You can see physics on a picture ? Great eyes you have here !
Or you mean PC version has TressFX ? Yeah we know that, we also now, from this very forum (and from my very eyes), that TressFX kills performances, specially on a NVIDIA GPU and sometimes the effect is really weird and out of place.

I read that (and it looks like that in the trailer) the PS4/ONE version will have improved TressFX, we'll see.

Considering it's quite hard to achieve 30fps + fully maxed TR in 1080p on a PC with a PS4/ONE raw power, I doubt that this version will run at 60fps though, and the dev would have said something about "zomg best version, runs at 60fps too).

It seems logical to me the console port runs at 30fps then. Quite sad I know, but for $400 you won't find a PC that can run TR fully maxed in 1080p+TressFX at 60fps either anyway so.... Can't say I'm blaming them. I hope that they can optimize their future games further, because I still think it's unacceptable to have a March 2013 PC game run at 30fps on a "next gen" console.

Nonetheless, TR games on consoles never ran at >30fps EVER. Even the "HD Trilogy" on PS3, which is a reedition of the PS2 versions are still running at 30fps (really lame considering Tomb Raider Anniversary runs at 60fps on shitty rigs, even though the PS3 version has improved assets/shaders.....)

But maybe Nixxes will surprise us ? Smile

Random thought about the game's engine.

So I noticed that when walking between areas: cliffside bunker and shipwreck beach, there's this long tunnel walk.
Is that a very clever way to load the next area without a loading screen? Meaning they load only the low detailed tunnel into memory, unload everything else and can load the next area seamlessly.

I guess I could listen if my HDD is working during the transition, but I have a SSD Smile

Most games these days have "hidden" transitions/loading screens like that.
Elevators, NPCs opening the doors in a controlled manner, some button mashing QTEs to open a gate, tunnels, small enclosed rooms with double gates, etc.

So it's a reasonable assumption Smile

yes,I own PS3 as well, but it's still a second for my PC gaming, and still hopes as much content will come to PC as possible.

When I was years younger I was arrogant and envy consoles as well too so I can understand some of the hard feelings here. I just grew up and also reailzed that PC gamers getting lots more stuffs that they realizing, yes,we still getting consoles ports and lots of them months after, but we still have indie, emualtion, and some AAA exclusives stuffs.
