This town has the most retarded Alarm Signal I've ever heard. It's like a Boat or a Train just honk for like a minute.

I didn't even know it was the towns alarm signal until I said to my gf last test: 'Dunno what the fuck has going on but some idiot in a boat or train has been honking for 30 mins today' Then she laughed and told me Sad

This town has a harbour and a train station so who the hell chose this kind of signal is just...MEH. In my hometown Geel in Belgium we had alarm tests but they sounded like WWII air raid alarms. At least than you know it's a fricking alarm (plus you knew it was a test since they said it through the speakers).

So question to the other Swedes... is this kind of signal used nation wide or is it just this dumb town?

I'll prolly die annoyed at some captain honking his horn when shit does hit the fan here. Laughing

This is the one we have in Finland. And it really is what you would expect a siren to sound like.

Testing doesn't last long, just enough time to make sure they work. Why keep going for 30min.

While looking for a sample clip I stumbled upon this thread:

Ah, it has become an alarm posting topic, in that case;

The dutch one. Tested every first monday of the month at 12:00. Which should be today, but I slept through it, even though I can normally hear 3 different towers.

Best sounding siren in the world Laughing

Cool Face

This is how sirens in Poland sound up close:

From a distance it's not as irritating. Wonder how many people would treat a real alarm seriously Smile

Well gay as in cheerful Smile He made a higher pitched cheerful Yoohoohoo instead of the normal grumpy Hoohoohoo's Laughing If that even makes sense

Could be funny next time I get asked ' So what do you miss from Belgium?'

"Fries, alarm signal and a gay owl" Laughing

Here they only test it on the first monday of a month, for a brief moment as seen in the clip I linked. Let's say you hear it thursday night? Not likely a test.

Well in Belgium they were so smart to use the speakers to announce it was a test. And you can hear that in the vid from Finland as well. Smile
