4.4.1 update came out, near instantly followed by 4.4.2.
Seem's that 4.4.1 wasn't entirely stable.

I haven't updated to the latest FW, which is supposed to improve the camera.
On the stock FW (got a launch version N5) the camera really is shit. Sometimes on a rare occasion it will make a good picture, but there is no consistency with it.

On a more serious note, I would check out the Xiaomi Mi3.

A Developer is generally the place for this kind of thing, to be honest I've not looked at the Nexus 5 sub forum but its going to be the best you'll get for sure.
I'm already checking the different ROM options and getting ready for hacking/tweaking it like there's no tomorrow
