Hey , I have downgraded my wonderful PSP to a version 1.50 , The problem is i've got a Free UMD with the console and it appears i need a software upgrade to run it , What is the best way to skip this check?
As i am still a noob (I will learn really soon )
Ive heard a few programs you can use to do this , but i can't remember
Edit : I remember a program now , UMD Emu V0.8? Will that bypass checks on movies?
Edit #2 : UMD Emu V0.8 Is messing my PSP up , It wont quit , Is it safe to turn off?
Meh.. Is that safe to use? , Meaning will i be able to upgrade to 2.00 if i use it?
Aragh , I never men't that i mean.. Can you update to 2.00 AGAIN
even though it says 2.00 in the system software (when its not really)?
Edit : Are there any nasty side effects? , Sorry for all the questions but i've had my PSP for nearly a day and nearly bricked it once already Im such a PSP Noob
No its perfectly safe, just run the program again to change it back to its correct version ! The only way to brick your PSP is by being a moron and running crap you don't understand haha

Lol , Yeah those damn morons *cough* ,
Actually yeah i went to run some homebrew (VBA i think) and when i did my PSP sort of turned itself off I was kinda like 'OMGZ Noes!' , But i turned it back on and everythings good
Don't worry so much, the only way to brick your PSP is by running something that writes to FLASH.. I would check the PSPUPDATES forums if your unsure of a program as they generally test everything and make sure its working.. also, you can brick it by writting to flash and turning off half way through, so, DONT DO THAT!
Downgrading = good + biggest chance of a brick by being stupid
Version 2.0 now , And 'The disc can not be played' Nice... , I hear there is no workaround for that correct? , I'm not bothered too much its just i got it free with the console so i thought i would give it a try
i thought if you used the downgrade then your save to play any Original UMD that includes a Update upto and including firmware2 as its all built in and just bypasses the checks.
I say this because my wipeout shows 1.52 update required in PSP menu yet plays fine on my 1.5
It also , Seems it wont play some parts of the UMD Demo disk , When i go into videos
I also get the 'Disc cannot be played' , There must be a way around this without upgrading again?
