Now, as some of you know, I work for Ubisoft. This is not entirely true. I work for a third party which sends people, including myself, to Ubisoft because we're cheap. Now, I have been in Ubisoft for the last year and a half, working with'em and came back a month ago under suspect circumstances (projects were available, but not for us).
Today I have been announced that everyone, including myself, are laid off, with the possibility of being employed by Ubisoft as soon as possible, but there's only 20 places available. Everyone else is laid off with three compensatory salaries.
FUCK EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. WHY. What the fuck.

I also do not work for <insert known telecom multinational here>, I work for a third party.
Really cool to do work in which that the 1st party pays the 3rd party company 2-3 times the value that you see at the end of the month, isn't it?

Somewhat likely, they look for people with experience, I have a lot of experience with PC, Xbox 360/One and the PS3. I also know a lot of project managers and unit managers and stuff but there are people which are better than me.
All in all, my manager's calculations turned out like this: There's 26 people that are viable for placing their CV's. Ubisoft will get only 20. 6 people will need to take the severance package and the rest until ~40 are people with determined contracts which expire come December.

Thank you for the kind words mate, I hope so as well. But there's a long way from hoping and actually doing something.
I just placed in my English CV and apparently, the practical test will not be held. Instead we'll all be having meetings with the HR ladies and floor managers. I sure hope to stumble upon someone I know. I also need to stop being my ADHD self for a half hour and be as focused as possible. Testing is actually my way of coping with it.
Thankfully, I have some money left over after all the months I busted my ass and I'll be able to pay my bills and stuff but I honestly don't have the heart to tell my missus, we worked really hard to be able to move in together.
God damn it, couldn't have this happened after the holidays?

Best of luck mate! Maybe you could bribe a dev to implement a severe show stopper and then "find" it and become the hero of the day  If you were just at EA, that would make this so much easier and you wouldn't even need to bribe someone

I'm sorry to hear claude. but somehow I think you'll be fine. Flexibility and dedication which you showed over the months are highly sought after. So if the ones that make the decision know you or have been in contact with the ones that supervised you you shouldn't be worried at all.

I would say good luck Claude but judging what you wrote it aint over yet, you still might be amongst those 20 people getting hired directly by UBI. But anyway it sucks I know, the feeling of uncertainty.

I dont know alot to say except to keep the head high and to stay focused on the goal ahead. You seem to have a really good chance at a spot 20/26 plus your relations, so you have every reason to show off a positive attitude. This will also help during any discussion you will have.

Yea, I gave up on Ubisoft, friend of mine set me up with some web design firms, I am just about done with quality control. Up until now, my wage had gotten somewhere in the range of 500 euros, they wanted to pay me 300. Gonna try something else, this guy that set me up saw my portofolio and was kind of impressed that I could do stuff like that at an amateurial level.

Front end and executions are handled by separate people, I only need to provide the .psd files with graphical elements. Welp, here's hoping I can make something of this, I've just about given up on quality control.
