That 1.12 hotfix did fuck all for my frame-rate - still sub 30's in the starter system (AL). I'd really like to hear the programmers logic in eating all those CPU cycles for meaningless shit.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Secondly, I would like to say how amazed we all are here by the huge success of the game. Number one on Steam for several days in a row at this time of year when the big hitters come out… wow, we never expected that. It’s crazy to see that more than 10,000 people are playing our game at any one time on Steam (even more if you include those who are in offline mode). Madness!
madness indeed

We need a miracle here, and yet they're celebrating with some fine wine
hadn't really tested it yet, since playing BGEE atm, but seeing all these reactions makes me wanna cry.. been looking out for this game for so long, and then we get this kind of crap?
This comment from the release trailer on youtube sums it up.

No SETA, no autopilot,no autodock,no match speed,no auto target, no ability to set shortcuts to scans modes, the map is a mess, also why all the models in the game look like they hit pension age?
You seriously dumbed down the game, you did not simplified it you just dumbed it down, playing it right now is a torture(WTF highway minigame? What is this? Android game?)
You don't know when will be the next time it will crash, after the seventh time I gave up, also the game does not look as good, but this is the lesser crime here, the broken game mechanics is the main problem.
The funny thing is this reply though:

2bad bruv, i am enjoy the hell out of this game, and if you dont appreaciate the work they had to put into this well then you really need to go fuck yourself.
I played it for a couple of hours.
Ran into 2 serious campaign-stopping bugs that I had to work pretty hard to get around, but I'm trucking along now, some missions in. Bugginess overall is not as bad as I expected.
I just don't get the X feeling from this.. all the other ships seem so random and unconnected like visual clutter just there to fly in circles around the space cities.
I can't follow any ships around because the fucking stupid space highways are some alternate reality where AI ships seemingly phase in and out of existence. Not to mention your super advanced ship getting overtaken by fucking freighters so you have to slipstream behind them in the stupidest minigame I've seen in a long time... I don't even.
The map is an atrocity and it's impossible to read anything from it.
It's completely worthless. The UI in general is very annoying to use and I much prefer X3 terran conflict.
Graphics wise it looks acceptable in space but runs like shit and it doesn't even matter if I turn all settings to absolute minimum or not, it always runs the same (shit) no matter what settings.
Windowed mode seems to at least give me 20-30 fps most of the time so it's kind of playable
NPCs look like fucking zombies (half-life 1 characters looked more human than this) but I can live with that. They always looked like shit in X.
Voice acting is also absolutely horrible as usual.
The space cities look cool enough and I like some of the ideas in there with how you explore them to get trade deals and such but it's a huge pain when you're looking for a specific trade opportunity that you haven't discovered so far.
Looting things off stations is also extremely stupid and makes no sense. Why are there containers in the same spaces on every landing platforms, full of random shit that you steal? And nobody gives a shit?
That woman you picked up and decided to help for no reason whatsoever (story writing like from an 8 year old) even tells you to just take everything that isn't nailed down?! WHAAAT?! Apparently it's perfectly legal in this world to take anything you like as long as it's in orange boxes or grey smaller boxes.
As far as I can tell, another great series ruined by "accessibility" and "streamlining". And in this case not directly, because it's neither accessible nor streamlined and just simply a stupid failed experiment in them trying to chase after that mass market appeal.
What is it with all these idiots so readily giving up the niché they carved out for themselves... I just don't get it and I feel sad :-(
I might play some more in search of some of the X depth but it's looking grim.

An update to version 1.13 has been released. Here are notes for the most recent updates:
v1.12 - 2013-11-15
• Added error message boxes at game start for certain critical errors.
• Fixed crash at start-up involving sample frequency.
• Fixed several in-game crashes.
• Fixed German voice recordings including missing and incorrect lines.
v1.13 - 2013-11-18
• Fixed player occasionally being sent 1000s of km into space on leaving superhighway.
• Fixed some invalid (but harmless) values in some savegames.
• Fixed some causes of ship traders getting stuck (more to come on this).
Disappointing patch notes so far...
When a game comes out in a state like this I expect a fucking novel when it comes to patch notes.
I sure hope they have something big coming up soon or nobody will give this game a second chance. But then it might not deserve one, and even if it gets one it's probably broken in design and cannot be fixed through patches, like SimCity.
Maybe they should abandon this now and make X Rebirth: Rebirth?

This pretty much seems to be the same as with Realms of Arkania. I anticipated both games, and both were delivered in a miserable state
Maybe in half a year this one will be in a playable and enjoyable state

i just try to get through the campaign right now lol. My personal challenge (and it's quite the challenge with all the gamebreaking bugs and what nots).
But on the way there, i make save games for each mission. Occupies me a bit hehe.
I was going to try this... yarr first then maybe buy ofc. After all this commentary, seeing the review and everything... Not even gonna waste the bandwidth and HD space on it anymore, unless maybe after I worked away all my games backlog (which will probably never happen). So sad...
