from what ive read , the side missions are not your ordinary side missions from other open world games. you have to go back in game to a previously chapter where a sidequest is available and you unlock it by doing things in main game. not sure though

If it's like the original then by design there's no way to save the game while replaying chapters, just after finishing it again.
That's why it's kind of important to do side quests during normal play. One of the early chapters (6? or 7?) has a trivial story task so it's good for replaying and doing side quests. Also get the radio, it's basically a teleportation device to places already visited...SQ#4 unlocks SQ#5 which has the radio as reward, nice and early in the game.

i'm playing it right now,the gfx are shabby and the controls somehow weird.VA is kinda meh and the music that plays in the background is so out-of-place that i sometimes feel reminded of House of the Dead but i can't stop playing, this game got something that makes you forget about all that.
However,i don't really get two things:Does the car only go for 50mph?Why am i switching between "real life" and "silent hill meets alan wake" mode?

You can get faster cars from the soldierdudeman. He's in the junkyard or whatever.

I couldn't resist and fired up the game yesterday. This is a great game. A great "broken" game. Reminds me of another "broken" masterpiece: Pathologic.

Yes to both, every second scene is adding something to the overall weirdness but i like it.I also plan to finish the game in one suit without shaving to leave a good impression in town

I tried to complete Pathologic 3 times but failed due to the english translation not making much sense anymore after day 2 or 3 [not saying that day 1 makes more sense but it`s possible after a few tries].Shame that the fixed english translation never made it

You copy the files to Deadly Premonition The Director's Cut\dpfix\tex_override folder and in the dpfix ini file, just set the enableTextureOverride option to 1.

For the love of God, why isn't George appearing at his house? I want to get the dam radio and complete the "Nameless Flower" side quest, but George's house seems to be closed all the time. I have gone there at 20:00, 21:30 and 22:30, it just doesn't seem to be open. WTF?

Anyone else experimenting flickering with DPFix 0.8 ? I'm trying to analyse where the problem comes from, I'm wondering if only people having the vanilla game (pre-update) have the flickering. Could be wrong though

Lots of people, turn off/disable SSAO to fix it. Should also fix the bump-mapping issues too, which seem to affect some.

Turning off SSAO doesn't solve the issue for many people including me.
Did it work for you ?
Even with a default DPfix.ini with no enhancements I/we get the weird flickering/bad lighting with DPFix 0.8 -which is solved by reverting back to 0.7.1
By the way even official Steam users seems to have the issue so my hypothesis was incorrect
Oh well, I give up, the game probably doesn't deserve it anyways
