NOTE: AC graphics engine supports also DirectX 10.1 compatible graphic cards (ATI 4800 HD / Nvidia 8600 GT)
Which is pretty much what I said above. They say DX11 is required but that it supports 10.1. That's two contradicting statements.
DirectX 11 is a software that must be installed on your PC and your card must have DX10 features. Not so hard to understand mate

Assetto Corsa is where it's at. Maybe the game won't have shiny "nextgen" graphics (still very good looking), but the physics are immensely better than all the other multiplatform driving games around. Can't wait to try the final version.
Tbh I played pCars and Assetto Corsa and I find pCars to be the WAY superior game regards handling/gfx/physics etc.
Except for that damn bug with disabled input filtering

i'll believe it when i play it. i was let down by pc racing games too many times now. forza makes tremendous improvements with each new version, they just need proper weather and day/night cycles and that's about it. GT is pfft indeed, last game was a huge disappointment.
For me, NetKar was hands down the best feeling racing game made. So far this looks like it won't disappoint

Hehe I think it's because the games adopt two completely different approaches when it comes to handling, so it's all about personal taste in the end. I find them both rather good in their own way, and the fact that they're constantly improving is a big plus. Graphically speaking pCars wins hands down, there's no doubt about that, it's already a "next gen" game whereas AC is behind in terms of shaders/models. Hopefully modding (which is supported) could potentially improve everything

What I really miss in these arcadesim racing games on PC, is a proper -well made- career mode like Forza/GT. AC should have one on paper, but the budget is low and contents will be limited, so don't expect anything mindblowing. I was mainly referring to the handling/physics combo, which is the aspect that disappointed me the most when I tried GT and the old Forza 3 at friends' house. AC's handling is built upon Netkar's, which was damn fine like Dodger said..so we should be safe.
Ok, took a quick look... started off my trackir and bang! it works! Kunos didn't even bother mentioning that..
Last thing for now, I set AA, AF and reflections sliders all to maximum. I noticed their AA indeed works but still jagges up a bit. Needs 4xSGSS so I'll drop the in-game AA settings and try via Inspector.. hopefully it works just fine!
edit: inspector doesn't work.
Before I forget... the game didn't launch. 3DM has left a folder there 'common redist' which has few things like dx setup, .net 4.0 etc'. Things that most people already have installed so if you get the 'failed to initialize steam' error, it's not because of that. Someone posted a different steam api dll and ini that works. Look it up @ cs.rin.
edit 2: after some more fiddling... come back in few months time. Too many damn things are wrong with this build.
worked fine for me with 3DMGAME-Assetto.Corsa.Early.Access.Cracked-3DM
but for those with error
"I have tested the steam_api.dll file from "Magicka.Wizards.of.the.Square.Tablet.Cracked-3DM" and now the game works fine."
Didn't work for me, though I managed to get it started by using the acs.exe instead and manually editing the .ini files like a boss.
Very limited contents for now, but the handling is good, quite unforgiving with all the aids disabled (I blame the gamepad, wish my old wheel was still alive! :<)
Graphics are pleasant too, not as good as pCars obviously, but more than adequate. Same for the sound effects.
Yessir, the handling is pretty damn solid. It's not homogeneus since some cars handle better than others (like in pCars), but the driving model requires an incredible precision - that I don't have at the moment. Quite rewarding though.
Graphically is nowhere as jaw-dropping as Cars of course, but not bad either.
