They've released a free-to-play Steam version a long time ago, and it doesn't have GFWL.

It was re-released as F2P on Steam and support for the GFWL version was dropped.

Keyboard unresponsive at times, keeps on shooting with just one click, multiple crashes to desktop, graphical glitches...
Tried a lot of things, in the end I just gave up and figured I might aswell just start from nr 2. |

I'd say this user is quite capable and running the glorious Win 7 Ultimate edition 
Most likely it's driver issue, but well I'm screwed on that part. Having a 500 series and nvidia not giving a damn  |

ah 500 series, i thought nvidia made it clear that that series needs to be upgraded

@Morphineus: as far as I remember the game has some problems with certain types of keyboards/mouses (mainly Logitech), causing FPS and control-related issues. Could be that ? 
edit: Disable all the "HID-Compliant Device" entries in the Device Manager-> Human Interface Devices
(in case you want to try it)
