Default apps are as expected really, google, google, google, etc... Although oddly mine seemed to have spotify installed by default - Either that or it downloaded once it had synced my account (but nothing else)..

I've only taken a couple of shots, it seems good enough for a camera on a phone, it takes longer than I would like to capture the image meaning taking pictures of my daughter is a fucking pain, but other than that its fine. I'll test that more at the weekend.

For now I've not rooted it as I have no real reason to do so right now, I'll see how I get on with it at stock first.

Have you guys bought cases? I looked at the official cases but the price was insane so I'm trying to find something else.. Not having much luck. A lot of places claim they sell "Nexus 5" cases but I'm pretty sure its bullshit..

Example

I'm after something to cover the screen, usually I go for a "sock" style, something a bit more homemade. Probably a bit odd of a choice I guess but I like a bare device until its sitting in my pocket.

Don't think there is much out there right now that I'd trust.

Bad, WTF?

I got to test a Nexus 5 a bit yesterday and took some photos in a very low dimmed room without flashlight. The pictures were REALLY good for that. I couldn't see any noise on the taken photo. No details seemed to got lost too. I took a photo of the same place with my Galaxy S3. lol, everything was mostly black and noisy..

I can't wait to finally buy the N5 for myself!

Quote:
The 8-megapixel camera on the back of the Nexus 5 is certainly capable of taking rather beautiful photos in the perfect setting. Unfortunately for us, life is not filled with perfect settings — and when you're faced with real-world picture taking, the camera underperforms constantly and consistently. The Nexus 5 takes photos and video with too little contrast, too little saturation, and too little color (or inconsistent color) — when you can get the camera to focus at all. Low light performance isn’t exactly poor, but getting it to snap the picture you want at the moment you want will drive you absolutely nuts. The camera app can be absurdly slow to focus and even slow to launch in the first place, which makes the Nexus 5 as a camera an exercise in frustration. It instills no confidence — and after a while I simply expected the phone to produce bad results. Side by side with almost any other flagship phone, its camera doesn’t hold up.

Let me just reiterate this point: in the right light, with a steady hand and no moving (or slow-moving) subjects, the camera can take excellent photos. It’s actually really upsetting because it suggests the Nexus 5 is capable of so much more — particularly with macro shots. But, in situations where those three factors are not in play, you will struggle to take a good photo. That means that by the time the lazy autofocus captures your scene, your kid will have stopped making that face, your friends will have thrown back their Jäger shots, or your pet will no longer be doing whatever hilarious thing it was doing.

case that wraps around to lift the front from being flat face down and a screen protector not work? pretty hard to break/scratch the screen that way...

this one is on chrome. I have chrome and samsung browser on my phone and only chrome tends to fuck up everything. I just keep it for html5

No, actually. Anything smaller than a Logitech 5-mouse (MX5x0, G5(xx)) is too small for my hands. I just don't like humongous phones. I was so fucking happy with my first smaller phone after the fucking refrigerator I started out with some 15 years or so ago, now we're going back to that?

I've got a Nexus 4 at the moment (loaner because my Desire died, need to buy something myself soon since my cousin has some idiot lined up to pay 350 for it Razz) and it really just is a tad too big. Operating it with one hand is doable, but only just.

I use Firefox again on my mobile devices since some weeks or even months now.
It got improved very much since i tested it over a year ago. Runs much better for me than Chrome or Stock browser too. But the main reason i use it, is the possibilty to synchronzie the browser between my desktop and mobile devices.

Oh and the NEXUS 5 ROCKS ! Very Happy

(But still waiting for an ordered case before i will really use it Sad )

You haven't noticed this on any web sites or forums??

http://www.coflash.com/stuff/screen.png

I haven't touched any of the settings, it's a horrible and inconsistent way to view this place (and other places)

The zooming is never smooth either, not like on an iPhone, it's more blocky and shaky looking, I don't know if that one is because of Chrome or the phone itself

Exactly what I am talking about. Same here with chrome

I don't use the default email app, I use Aquamail (better widget, better UI, better everything). I haven't used the default email app in years, so I can't answer your question - Aquamail does it fine though Razz

As for the text thing: I only get it on the hump, so it must be something in the hump CSS. Some strange selector somewhere.

Well Werelds, I have a colleague over here. When I bought my 3.7 inch touch pro 2 in 2009 he said, whoa that is big! Way too fat and big for me. (and he is like 1.95 or so at 100+kg)

So he bought himself later a small shitty sony outdoor android which was just fat and small and slow.

Then I bought my galaxy s2 in 2011. He said, whoa that is huge! Way too huge for me! I search something smaller. Maybe 3.7 inch or so.

This year I bought the S4 and he said, whoa that is way too big for me, I am looking for something like the galaxy s4 mini. (Which is exactly the same size as the S2!!)

Last week he got himself the nexus 5

@interinactive:
I like the stock gmail app. It renders for shit though, lately it pinches the images from the sides, just to fit in width, even if it f*cks up the aspect ratio And nfohump renders strangely on every mobile browser I tested... I guess it's due to very old and shitty coding of this page. Then agian, I think we can/should do about that... maybe it's time that I look into that specific git repo again Laughing

It has nothing to do with Android itself though, because unlike iOS, the majority use their own engine (and aren't limited to the crippled WebView on iOS). Chrome on Android for all intents and purposes is Chrome on desktop, aside from real estate and the UI. That said, the majority still use WebKit and typically the versions aren't too far from each other.

i would wonder if this has to do with the fact that this forum uses software that is over a decade old :/
