Good news. I really like RPGs from Spiderweb Software.

Choose from five different types of characters, including the new Tinkermage class, each with dozens of unique spells or skills. Explore a gigantic world filled with secrets, artifacts, and a rich story. I only played to the keep so far (sort of an intro) but so far I am actually enjoying this. The graphics aren't AAA, of course, and the sound is pretty cheesy (but the music is good) but so far the gameplay is pretty fun. Not really far into it at all yet though. For it's size, it's definitely worth checking out if you like the old turn base isometric rpgs. IMO
The game does have its issues though. Hard to tell where there are items on the ground that you could potentially use. You find yourself walking around hitting g to see if there's anything around to pick up. It's awkward.
What a building looks like from the outside doesn't really reflect what it's like on the inside.

My thoughts exactly, I too found myself walking about pressing G at random spots to see if there is actually anything there, however the game exhudes charm and the dialogue is extremely well written and draws you in, as I am sure is the intention.
Obviously as you point out the graphics are not top notch but that really does not matter. It's so obvious the developers love what they have created and are not simply out to make a quick buck as so many companies are.
In fact I felt so guilty downloading this that I fully intend to purchase it.

Meh, more of Vogel's shovelware. He's not even trying anymore now that he discovered the steam business model for himself.

Exactly. Played it for several hours today and it's pretty good. The story is interesting so far. And there are lots of things hidden out of the way to find if you don't just rush from one quest to another. It's just a good, fun, somewhat old school rpg.

For me. the style of the original exile is the one I prefer, played the crap out of those, and was never able to comfortably graduate to the new engine..

Well, I tried the first Avadon game (black tower? can't remember) and just couldn't get into it. Maybe my tastes changed or something.
edit: Black Fortress.
As for being better than the first (asked below), I don't know. I didn't play the first one for long. I just couldn't get into it. I may revisit it again when/if I finish this one and see if my mind has changed.

Been playing this recently. Never could get into the first one but the second one feels pretty good so far(3-4 hours in). Recommended try if you are short on games and like oldschool isometric RPGs.
