I can't judge the gameplay since I didn't play AC4 (I'll be waiting for the PC version), but my PS3 had a very hard time with AC3 when I tried it.

Protip:
Before boarding enemy ships, move the Jackdaw close to it and change to Edward, free run over to the other and take out every single of the guys on the deck, after you're done, return to the Jackdaw.
Now once you board the ship for real, no more hassle of taking out 10-15 people (also risking losing crew members) along with 2 sharpshooters on the top, it instantly switches to the options screen after you pressed B or O long enough.
Awesome this is even possible Bit lengthier then the normal approach, but so much fun and highly effective.
Currently upgrading my ship and Edward big time, already boarded like 30 (achievement) and took over the 3 big forts up top on the map.
Only thing that sucks is that the Armada part is pertained to online. I hope enough complain so they put it to use offline, since you can make more gold by sending out ships you take over.

If the PC version doesn't hit the same stuff AC3 was hit with (framerate issues on all kinds of machines, bugs and all shit that Ubisoft failed to fix), it should be really good.
Whether a PC or old-gen version (no PS3 unless they fix those horrible issues people complain about), I think I am going to buy it, the game is really well made this time and offers so much.

@harry_theone: Can you list a few things which are improved over AC3 (gameplay department)?

I'll try to, I played AC III to the end just a few days ago, so I was able to have some kind of comparison.
- Obviously, the ship part is huge and probably the best part of the whole game, tons of upgrades, you can change the look of it from sails to figureheads.
- You can sell your earned materials through boardings directly from your captains cabin.
- You're able to take over various fortresses that shoot every single enemy ship that comes close.
- Feels like the climbing is not as derpish as in III anymore, doing things you don't really want.
- Less loading screens, at least on 360 playing it from HDD.
- Optional mission goals are easier (no more: don't fall 50m chasing the guy that sprints like Usain Bolt)
- When landing on small islands (not cities) or just taking a walk on your own ship, the English and Spanish still sail around you, even when you're aboard another far from the Jackdaw. They also engage eachother, sometimes you encounter fleets and you can even fight legendary ships (a red ship blib on the world map, haven't done one of those though, possibly harder and /or a warship.).
- Enemies do not swarm as much (no more thousands of british aggroing you over the whole place).
- Blow pipe is a nice touch as a replacement for the integrated gun in the hidden blade back from AC 2/Brotherhood.
- Crafting system like in FC3, whether this is positive or not, is up to everyone else, the recipes are not horrible like 3 shark teeth + five pigs for a simple gunbelt, you can find majority of them by accident and exploring islands.
I guess someone else can give a more detailed view, haven't done much in the story (around 20% in total now) but collecting Reales and doing side missions to upgrade things before I progress.

Putting an IMO to avoid people shitting on you comparing AC2/ Revelations with AC:IV, two different installments from one engine where one is more improved than the other, doesn't look the same when you're not playing the game on an old valve TV since the first game
Depends on what you're playing though, because I played the 360 version and it's - except small minor bits - a SHITLOAD better than AC III in all kinds of ways. The majority of issues and critique came from PS3 players as it seems right now. | you have to put IMO to anything you write HERE , if not people would go ape shit and attack you randomly in any topic in any tread , trolling you just to rage ... Interactive (another fellow crusader) saw this shit behavior here thats why he added IMO to his Avatar so those derps stupid people would just back off from his living space
i am now playing back to back AC 2/3 Revelation and Ac3 ... and they both look the same graphically , setting is different but other then that they are the same ... the only thing is those horrible slow downs you get AC part 3 none AC3 laggiezzz

First a 30 sec pause to reach logo then a min to come to menu and when you fail or die the load time is more than 2 min on 1.01 update

Adding on to the list:
- Lookouts are fast-travel points within cities.
- You can go on hunt, also for sea animals
- Camera is now sided to left and up close to the upper body when you're not running and in cities.
- When free-running, the camera centers on the player and zooms out a bit.

Pretty much no god games until next year, so got lots of time to spend on it
Btw, there where only 12 seq Last one was epilouge. |
Could you give us a quick review please? Bulletin points for plus and minus will be great. |
+ the map is HUGE (will take some time sailing from north to south, west to east)
+ lots added, few things taken away. Explore caves, interesting side missions, awesome underwate gameplay (also missions), harpoon gameplay.
+ the hunting aspect is very similar to far cry 3. You need animal skins to upgrade health
etc. (huge amount of animals)
+ ship aspect of the game; lots of upgrades and things to do. There is always motivation to to do so too, trying to take down a legendary ship for example. They are shown on the map
- the ending wasn't bad, but expected a better one... its AC afterall
9/10 - It really is the best AC yet. As iv said before, its bigger and better.

I really like the game, but what I feel so far (20%ish in there) that the real Assassin's Creed aspect really feels tacked on, story and gameplay wise as well. It's like Ubisoft wanted to make a "Sid Meier's Pirates!"game with the Assassin's Creed label on it.
I must add that Pirates! was my absolute favorite back in Commodore 64's time, but from a game labeled "Assassin's Creed" I expect at least the same kind of continuation of the "Creed vs. Templar" conflict as in AC III, where it was still the weakest before AC IV.
I played every Assassin's Creed games so far, including the PSP, PS Vita and Android ones, and so far this game has the lowest AC content in it. Once again: I love Pirates! and Pirates! like games, but from a game labeled Assassin's Creed I expect more AC content here, story and gameplay wise as well.
Maybe it will be more AC related later, but so far main story and mission are centered on Nassau pirates, and AC content is like side missions for the Creed.
