And I can deny it, because it made 0 difference in my case. The OS itself is not what brought those performance improvements for some people.

So was it DirectX 11.1 then?
Or just the fact that it's a new clean system?
(I did not play the beta myself.)

I just can't bring myself to install windows 8. Unless there is a massive advantage of 8 vs 7, I will not be upgrading. Was reading the thread below about a gaming comparison of performance between win7 and 8. You can check it here if interested: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=2042539
Either way, don't mean to de-rail the thread off of bf4, just wanted to share |
I guess you don't have a big hdd? Otherwise, setting up dual boot with Win 8.1 took me less than an hour. I will be booting into Win 8.1 excluvely for playing BF4, and that's if they don't manage to considerably improve performance on Win7. I left my Win 8.1 install ready with all the necessary stuff (origin, latest gfx driver, teamspeak, ventrilo, etc.) last week and haven't touched it since

Start8 is wonderful, I haven't even used the modern ui since I installed this. Which is unfortunate, because at work my PC needs to have Windows 8.

I don't know. All I know is that it did fuck all for me. Maybe on 6-8 thread/core CPUs it does, but for my quad it didn't.

It doubled my FPS + stuttering was gone and i'm on a i5 2400 so nope.
Also "clean" system theory debunked considering i had just installed w7 1 week b4 the beta since i bought a fresh SSD, not that a non-clean install would ever warrant such a bad performance in any game.
My previous w7 install had like 2 years of use and no performance deterioration to be seen compared to popular benchmarks.
Of course most of the performance issues came from Dice's BETA considering after the perf patch most people had these issues fixed but, that took what.. 2 weeks? + not everyone got it fixed (just like w8 didn't work for everyone).

Dunno what is the cause for performance issues but my brothers 2500K @ 4.8Ghz stuttered like hell on the BF4 beta @ Windows 7 64bit (pretty much constant 100% cpu usage). My rig did not have any stuttering, all load was perfectly balanced to available threads (around 50-60% usage all times).

Everything is still intact here (only Deluxe, no Premium), I guess they're really waiting for the release day.

Pretty sure Mexican trick still works because a friend ordered it yesterday and it showed on his origin account right away.

I bet he got BF4 there as well? Still not a peep of my premium, but I have BF4 coming as retail disc, so I don't even know can it show up there before the main game, as it's listed as expansions under BF3.

Yes he bought both. Your premium will probably show up after you install the main game. Have you been charged yet? Yesterday they charged me for bf4 and today they charged for the premium.
In the details for bf4, you can see the product code (Im assuming same as cdkey). I wonder if I can just cancel the order but still redeem the code later? It is in the same format as a Russian bf3 key I ordered and redeemed. Probably not.
