It worked for 8.1 pro. No idea about enterprise

Pro non-volume license. That worked for Win8 also. But with 8 Volume license, you can't upgrade to 8.1 non-VL.

8.1 is simply windows 8 with sp1, right ? I.e. if i buy a windows 8, it will update to 8.1 through windows update ?

Yes but afaik you cant upgrade right now. You can either get a leaked 8.1 iso or wait till october 18 when they officially release the update

Installed it this morning, other than different build version (6.3.9600.16408 now) can't see anything changed visually. Windows 8.1 Pro already ran really well so hard to notice an improvement.

It should work with Windows 8.1 build 16384 or what it was but it'll be offered through Windows update later this week (Tuesday?) according to a post in that thread.
(In case there's other versions of the update for say different localizations for example.)

Im not trying that update anytime soon again. Grabbed some updates couple of days ago and my system wouldnt even boot to desktop. Just a flickering screen where no process could be opened and i couldnt even find windows safe mode. WHY THE FUCK THEY REMOVED F8?? (got that back enabled now, but still)

Sorry if it was answered before plenty of times but Is there any good release of windows 8 ?
or do I just download it from microsoft site ?
Are there different releases of 8 and 8.1 ? or do I just update after installing 8 and maybe cracking?
I am on 7 for many years now and always been using BIE editions. We have new pc in university all with 8.0 installed on ocs. And it seems snappier than win7
