I tested it for several hours while fine tuning and tweaking my cousin's laptop. It all comes down to the annoying crap and clutter Microsoft imposes to you interface wise. Sory, but that's very important to me, and I hear that 8.1 just makes it worse in a ver subtle way.

It's literally a 1 minute job to install a start button and metro is gone. Maybe 1 more minute to uninstall the apps

Vista was a bad OS, 8 is faster and slightly superior to 7 in every regard. It's funny the bad reputation it gets from gamers when customizing it to be identical to 7 is so simple. Changing your graphics settings in a video game is more difficult

I would have liked a bit more detail on what actually annoyed you but okay, I can somewhat understand braking with a known interface isn't easy. Smile
As for clutter... sorry, not seeing any of that. Wink
 Spoiler:

I can't say 8.1 is that much different from 8 - as you said the visible changes are quite subtle - but then again I never really had much of a problem with 8 anyway. Well, except there wasn't a (built in) way to boot straight to the desktop in 8 but third party apps and Win 8.1 changed that.

Hmmm...

I'm still having fun, but it's starting to get frustrating getting killed in ridiculous situations pretty much because I'm trying to be quick and precise at... 21fps Laughing Sad
And while I'm flailing to get my reticle over the other guy he's already putting 3-4 bullets in my skull and moving on.

Doubt that it will get much better, quite frankly.

So I guess you're not getting the 100% cpu usage thing, which is certainly bound to be fixed by DICE at some point before release. And still getting only 21 fps? You're pretty much screwed up Laughing

Actually... I still haven't tested that. brb Poker Face

EDIT: Back.
Ok, by 100% do you mean... constant 100% on all cores or...?
I had from 92% to 96% most of the time.

If you have a graph for each core to check their load while in-game the graphs would be constantly filled almost all the way to the top, no "valleys" or "peaks" whatsoever.

In that case, no, the graphs for each core were close to 100% but not constantly at 100%.

Laughing Sad

Well, I said almost completelty filled. That's something between 95-100, not necessarily exactly 100. The important thing here is that the top of the filled graph is more like a plateau and not a like a mountain range or valleys

Btw, that "sheeeeeeeeeeit..." with Sydnor in the senator's office was his best in the whole series Aww Yeah

LOL disabling crossfire helped with the annoying fps drops. Now it is constant 40+ for me with everything on low. So if you have crossfire, try disabling it. Havent checked the cpu usage yet.

Wasn't this pos designed for AMD systems?

Guess we're two then, I just checked and got the rollercoaster graphs which don't promise anything good. Damn it.

Also every time the building collapses I get 5-8fps average until the dust clears off. Laughing Bottlefiuld wat r u doin

Yup, CPU usage went down to about 70% after disabling the crossfire. Very surprising considering how well bf3 supported xf.

At this point it's clear that after BF3 the developers all got suddenly affected by a severe case of amnesia and forgot to code.

The guys responsible for the optimization process are still wandering clueless asking around for the most unsolvable questions

I have not played the beta, but I'm guessing it's something other than cheats.

One direct RPG hit (not laser guided) is not enough to destroy carrier choppers anymore? Had a direct hit but only got points for damaging the vehicle and someone else finished it off. If so, pretty lame. Was already imagining all the kills I would get once the chopper exploded.

Btw, now that I disabled xf, even HT helps to unload CPU usage. Who coded this shit.
