Damn episode 25 was incredible. The animation, the music, the voice acting, the story all the mysterious shit! Oh god I love it so much..
Also they eased the cliffhanger ending with a small montage which was nice of them.
It really felt like an ending of sorts.
The wait for the continuation of the anime will be tough but I'd rather have them wait as long as they want instead of fucking it up with filler or a made-up story that doesn't follow the manga.
Just take your time...make it as good as the first season...
If you wanna pick up the the manga, chapter 34 (of 49 currently out) continues where the anime left off (including the post-credits thing)
Here is a link to that point in the manga, just make sure you don't go there unless you
1) finished the anime
2) are comfortable spoiling the future continuation of the anime
Indeed a great series to bad we have to wait for the next season for some time.
Spoiler:
Want to know what's in the basement of eren's house. And where is his dad didn't see him die so maybe hes behind some of it.
yeah some of the great mysteries of the series so far...
just anime spoilers
Spoiler:
I'm also wondering about eren's Father. There are some things that we know about him...
The drill sergeant appears to know him (possibly his friend) as when eren graduates he says to himself 'Grisha, your son just became a soldier...' and Grisha is the name of Eren's father. I wonder what their relation is?
Also prior to that after escaping from the first colossal titan attack with mikasa and armin and taking shelter within wall rose as kids (prior to enlisting), eren wakes up after a nightmare one day where his father injects him with something, gives Eren the key to the basement and tells him to retake wall maria and go to the basement.
Now... I didn't notice this at first but the key to the basement wasn't something Eren had.. his father had taken it with him when he left on the day of the attack.
Yet when Eren wakes up from this 'nightmare' he suddenly has the key around his neck but doesn't seem to remember the encounter with his father.
So that was no dream and Eren's father actually found Eren somewhere shortly after the attack, injected him with something that possibly allowed him to become a titan, and gave him the key to the basement. Mikasa might know something actually because I doubt Eren's father could get to him alone. Mikasa would be there.
I don't think anyone knows what happened to Grisha after that. Where did he go? Why did he leave? What does he know? Oh god the questions.
Hannes in episode 1 mentions that once Grisha saved the entire city from an epidemic.. that also sounds like it might have story relevance but I'm not sure how.
Of course the fact that he left shortly before the titan attack implies that he knew it was coming. Also there's a short scene which shows him driving horse cart with tears in his eyes, wishing for his children and wife to be safe.
But if he knew it was coming why didn't he do something about it? Save his family? Anything? Did he have a change of heart while working for the *bad guys*?
Btw a semi-popular theory is that Eren turned into a titan involuntarily and killed his father when he was injected with the stuff, but doesn't remember it.
this story is truly a mystery masterpiece. I could theorize about this shit all day :P

Thought the same about that dream Eren had, really weird he had that basement key after he woke up from that dream.

Didn't think about that but yeah that seems plausible.
And Annie's father could maybe be a old friend or foe of eren's dad because the both seem to know about the titans.
Though I'm actually wondering where Annie's village (and father) is exactly... is it really inside the wall?
It seems a bit crazy to me that a faction that kills half a million people by destroying wall maria is based within the walls themselves.
The colossal titan attacked from outside the outermost wall.. but does that mean that he came from beyond the wall? Possibly, or he could have jumped off the wall as a human and transformed on the other side like eren and annie.... there's hints all over the place but nothing conclusive...yet
Man I just love all these questions.
Have you ever wondered about the very beginning of the anime?
My thoughts.. note it contains a spoiler from the first chapter of the manga which is ever so slightly different from the anime.
Spoiler:
The anime starts with the episode title 'To you, 2000 years in the future: The fall of zhiganshina'.
What does it mean? 2000 years in the future? Does this play 2000 years in the past? Is the 'To you' directed at us, the viewer?
Connected to that, Eren wakes up feeling exhausted like he had a long dream (where titans appeared and fucked shit up).
In that dream I noticed corpses of survey corps members and you also see the titan eating eren's mother...
So he has seen all this before? Are things repeating? Is he from the future or something? Another dimension?
In the manga which is almost but not quite 1:1 it starts a little different ...
The very first scene you actually see Mikasa saying "See you later, Eren..." and then Eren wakes up.. and Mikasa has longer hair than before so that's really weird...it can't be the same day where she said that when he went to take a nap or something... there's some serious shit going on there.

For some reason i got the feeling that Annie and here dad weren't living inside the walls can't really explain why tho. I guess the 60 meter tall titan is someone who jumped of the wall and transformed as you didn't here it coming where as in a later ep you hear footsteps and everything is shaking only a hunch of course.
And the titan's seem to resemble some future's of there human counter parts as seen by Eren and Annie and the big titan is bald so i guess it's a guy without hair.

Hmm can't really comment on that as i didn't read the manga, but after reading your comment i definitely gonna download the manga now.
great finale, too bad that by the time the 2nd season starts, the manga will just barely have enough content for that one, judging by the frequency of new chapters.
after season 2 it will be either a very long hiatus, or it will be another case of an anime deviating from the manga (which i find quite fun at times, seeing a completely alternate storyline in the anime compared to the manga later on)

yeah..
I don't mind alternate stories by the anime creators as long as we eventually get to see the original version as well (fullmetal alchemist)
I wouldn't worry too much though because it's all getting so big that we will likely get other animes and stuff.
Like we got an OVA that shows the origin story of Levi coming early december.
Japanese live action movie coming next year (probably)
There's also a light novel by the manga creator called Attack on Titan: Before the Fall
which is a story about 3 characters living 50+ years before the anime, showing among other interesting things how the 3d maneuver gear was invented.
That light novel is getting it's own manga so that could also become an anime or OVA at some point.
So my point is.. they're expanding this, so the wait for the anime isn't all there is to look forward to in all likelihood.

just discovered this. I dont watch anime like never. I jsut dont like it (tho loved dragon ball and love ghibli movies).
good ?

This is nothing like Dragon Ball at all. If you don't watch any anime, it's going to be either hit or miss. I doubt you will like it and finish the season. Like Stormwolf said, watch few first episodes and decide for yourself.
I would wait before starting this when they finish entire series. Next season won't probably air until 2015. And we were left with kinda big cliffhanger if I remember correctly.
There isn't any information about any new season. As far as i know there are LOTS of animes that has been canned just to have people continue reading the manga instead. I most certainly hope this isn't one of those cases.
Yep. It's just better to read the manga or we will all end up disappointed. But given the huge success of the series, I'm sure that we will get another season eventually.
Attack on titan manga is really sketchy, which makes it the complete opposite of the anime, which is beautifully done. In the last few years there havent been many animes that grip my attention as this one did. I thoroughly recommend it
Never really had time for anime but I'd thought I'd see what all the 'Attack on Titan' fuss was all about. Just watched 8 episodes straight and I'm completely hooked!
I cant help but wonder that the smaller titans could look less 'stupid' though.
yea i dont recommend reading the manga in this case, with berserk, the manga is so beautiful and insanely well drawn, it adds alot to the atmosphere, but with attack on titan the manga looks like it was drawn by fans after you´re spoiled by the consistent art of the anime.
Yep,berserk best manga/comic ever read, best combination of Adult Story and action,I really loved Titan also (anime) apeal to berserk fans despite being entirly different, but still feel for adults,in both Violence and characters relationships, didn't read the manga of Titan tough.,I'm having my hopes for second season,it's not like berserk when anime is limited(both films and anime only covered less then 3rd or manga story) in case of Titan, they cover around half of the manga so far no?

in case of titan it was more than half of current manga, hence they are having atleast a 1 year break so they can collect some more content.
yea, berserk is one of the best, watching the new movies atm and gonna continue reading the manga afterwards, havent read a new chapter in more than 5 years.
well its been going on for around 25 years now, its almost as old as me
he should really set the final arc of the story in motion and complete the manga.
when it comes to the overall mood and grit, berserk.
there is a 25 episode anime series from late 90s, and a new remake in form of 3 movies, the 3rd just came out this year.
as JackQ said though, these cover only around 1/3 of the manga story so far, and after that arc things actually get insanely sick, twisted and dark.

to be honest,as much as berserk goes even darker and twisted, the whole wyald Sega which still occurs in the Golden Arc manga(cutted from anime) was pretty sicked even then most of what happened after golden arc
Spoiler:
the amount of women raping and brutal killing
I'm surprised didn't heard any women rights protesting against it

Hmm might look into that thanks.
I remember playing a game on Dreamcast I think it was, called Berserk: Guts Rage, I think it was. Is that based on the anime?
yes,but it seems to be more of a side story,at least it occurs after Golden arc, there is PS2 Berserk also, while skipping lots of what happen after golden arc, still cover loosely 22-27 volumes,I guess they wanted to continue the anime,so Video game was the best they could do.
