Yea the ep wasnt bad but I cant help but compare it to Famiy Guy and i think most of us would agree that there really is no comparison.

definatly... it's just a less funnier clone of fam guy... and since fg is back on... this seems like the b-side which people won't care that much about...
too many gay characters for my taste

Futurama got five seasons. Most shows don't. You still gotta be good to get 5 years.

Futurama was consitently funny if you were a fan - at no point did it reach the mediocrity present in the Simpsons. In fact some of the later episodes are made with fans in mind, maybe even over sentimental.
It's easy to say Futurama was funny in the beginning, because sure, it was, but it wasn't as great as some people say, it blew hot and cold throughout it's tenure.
I own all the seasons on DVD, well worth the investment - big fan who rates it higher than the Simpsons in terms of enjoyment.
As for American Dad, I think I like it more than Family guy. At least - on the basis of the NEW series of Family Guy which was really mediocre for the majority of the running time, with interspersed gags that made you laugh; yes, but no real structure of humour present. Not as slick as the earlier episodes. Funny but hollow.
American Dad seems good though, not hilarious but good.

Is it me or ispep constantly trying to be the lone ranger? He's always looking to be the only 1 who likes something different. Sure its good to have an opinion but when ur making up bs excuses just to cure ur desire to meet them its going a bit too far. for example family guy has the exact same pace as the older seasons, it uses the same kinda sarcasm and you can base 2 episodes of american dad on 1 of family guy? for a start i laughed more on the first ep of FG than on both of AD even though both use the same kinda styles.

I don't think there was any need to attack my character to cast doubt on my opinion. I may be pedantic and hard to please, but when I truly believe something to be worthy of praise - it gets it. This might make it seem like I'm being selective when all you read is my criticism, but that is not the reality.

The latest Family Guy was far removed from the originals in the sense that as far as structure went it didn't have one at all. For me at least, the laughs primarly came from the unrelated skits such as the Pinocchio sequence.
American Dad is a much more fluid & slick show from what I can ascertain from the ONE actual episode combined with the PILOT. Family Guy has become like the Simpsons much more sporadic, much more all knowing.
There are different forms of humour, American Dad is NOT the same as the Family Guy, it's much more laid back and friendly. That doesn't mean it's better, but in my opinion - as I stated above, on the basis of the newest episode of Family Guy, and what I've seen of the character exposition in American Dad - I prefer the latter.
And above and beyond all of that there is the very question of taste - and maybe you are unaware of this; but not everyone has the same sense of humour. Strange but true!
Some people for example find the Office very disturbing, or unfathomable, whilst others find themselves laughing uncontrollably.

the office disturbing yea right and its ot just these 2 shows u want to be ur own on, its EVERYTHING. Also the jokes in FG are free flowing and also have the flash back / imaginery scenes too, as does AD.

Umm, the Office is one of my all time favourite shows. I don't find it disturbting, as I myself fall into the latter category of laughing hysterically - BUT I do know many people who find that uncomfortable realistic humour to be disturbing - and thus highlighted this to prove my point about different senses of humour.
So what other shows do I 'want to be my own on' - substantiate that claim or retract it as nothing more than a pathetic attempt to taint my opinions.
I think I made my points about the two shows clear, and if it wasn't entirely obvious I'm not a huge Family Guy fan, it's more of a passing interest to me. American Dad doesn't excite me anyway, I don't find all that funny - but I do find the show is well made, and much better in terms of pacing.
