Well, it depends on how sensitive the input is, I think. Also, the size. I think it's do-able, though, just the learning curve for it is high. Sadly, neither of us are going to be proven right or wrong any time soon.

I don't understand how you can debate if it works well or not by testing with a 360 (or whatever) gamepad. Please explain.

I think it might to be better for shooters and strategies (games most people prefer to play with KB+M) than the usual gamepads, but I think it's going to suck for all other games, especially sports games where you mostly use only one stick and buttons. You will have to lift your finger of the left trackpad to press two of the main buttons (it would be a disaster in a game like FIFA or NBA).

You always could read our discussion with Pixieking properly, instead of putting random reply for the sake of putting random reply.

No matter how sensitive it is I still can't see how it is possible to use right "stick" when your thumb finger pressing one of the buttons on the right of it. The only part of the finger that will be close enough is:
But you know, this is where finger bones are connected and despite all the wonders - humans' body has limitations.
This is quite a weird key layout for that pad. But this is mostly layout issue. It can be fixed easily with "TOGGLE CROUCH".
The biggest pad itself issue I see is only one trigger for each side. This is really what puzzles me, a lot.

- XBO pad has no touch sensitive surfaces at all as opposed to 3 on this
- XBO pad has some feedback on triggers, this has it on the two large touch areas (they don't mention anything on triggers)
- DS4 only has a touch area in the center - on this it's a touch *screen* in that spot
- Both pads have sticks, this has none
So I'm not sure what similarities you see, but I see something entirely different. |
I meant about the touch screen and improved rumble,Steam controller seems to enjoy BOTH worlds, the triggers and touch are obviously inspired by them, maybe WIIU also.
p.s it seems to be more RTS/FPS friendly.

Very interesting IMO, esp. how they are making to where it's totally hackable and shit. If this really hits big, which I bet it will, this will mean that the PC can start giving consoles a run for their money and we PC gamers can have more options too. I'd love to be able to kick back on the couch sometimes and play my games. I have no interest in a next gen console, but this looks very slick.

So, consolitis, you seem to be a very knowledgeable person when it comes to Valve.
If we were to assume that Valve wants Half-Life 3 to be the debut game for the Source 2 engine, what's your estimate on how long till they announce it?

HL3 won't debut Source 2. I made clear my opinion, it's going to be L4D3.

I understand, but let me make it pretty clear that it would be a huge waste. And I'm sure many people would think the same. Just my personal opinion.
Then again, I can see them announcing multiple games at once.

Ah, I get what you mean. I don't think it was inspired by either of those though. This must've been in development for quite a while already, before we knew what the new controllers would be like. And it's quite "souped up" compared to those as well; I think the haptic feedback on this might just give a stronger sense of direction than the XBO feedback and obviously here the center touch thing is a screen rather than just an area.
