Thats what I mean. I've got BF4 around the corner... bf3 was basically the only game i've played seriously consistenty over the last 2 years so bf4 is a no brainer... and i dont want to be let down with my current system, heck even bf3 at ultra USUALLY ran at 60fps but i had really annoying dips down to the 30-40s at times and I couldnt fraps or dxtory my gameplay because the system just couldnt handle it properly.

a 3570k on the asus board with some gskill 2133 8gb memory is probably going to be a fairly nice bump up from my old system, whether the gtx 670 is already showing age (cant be surely!!!!) i cant imagine bf4 running shit with that gpu... i'm more concerned about the cpu being the issue on these new titles coming out.

And whether benchmarks or people saying your old chip at 4.5ghz will do the same as a current Sb or IB chip I'm not convinced...

So just want some clarifcation and yes you are going to notice some decent improvements from some geekheads out there.

my ssd is blazing fast anyway so i wouldnt do the upgrade just for sata 3 lol. its primarily just for games, one in particular Razz

i've built 2500k systems for friends a year back now and they were running 6950s back then and at times their fps was much more consistent than my gtx 670!!!

I was like wtf!?!? And dont start on the amd / nvidia band wagon... I had 5850s in this thing before and had similar issues with hitching in games.

i just want to bring up the min framerates so they are not so off putting.

Well I can definitely tell you a 750 won't be in the same ballpark as a 2500k at the same frequency, let alone a 3570 and above, there's a huge difference in performance there - so if you are intent on doing a full system upgrade, then absolutely you'll see a performance leap. I don't know if your 750 is holding back a 670, but you absolutely should be destroying a 6950 in terms of performance as a 6950 is the rough equivalent of a single 570.

Well at least you won't regret it Smile I've got a friend that recently "upgraded" from a GTX660ti to a GTX670. Poor bastard... that was an expensive mistake, because while the 670 *is* technically an upgrade, it's hardly one that's worth £200.

Sweet. looking forward to the upgrade finally. been like 3-4 years since I had that beast. served me well Smile

Already sold my old board chip and memory so just need to wait for the new stuff to arrive and i pull back a good 150 - 200 euro. so thats not bad. flogging off my xbox 360 and ps3 as well. Never use em.

PC all the way, then maybe I'll grab a ps4 when it comes out if its any good.

I'm still on my i5-760, I'll only replace it when it dies Laughing

There's some things on newer CPUs that I would use, but I just can't be fucked to replace *everything* just for that. In games this thing is still far from being a bottleneck and until it does, it can keep doing what it's been doing. It's been at 4.2 for like 3 years now I think, we'll see how long it lasts.

^^ See? That's what I was saying Smile Definitely no bottleneck on your existing machine Jippy, so if you are upgrading at least do it because you want to and for future-proofing stuff, don't do it because you think you "need" to Very Happy I also agree with the whole "fuck replacing everything" stuff too... I always hated that with AMD and Intel; "new chip!! ahaha... and a new board! oh and new RAM too! *snigger* Noooo, we don't have contracts with chipset makers, honest!"

Well, my DDR3-1600 would be perfectly fine. I just have no use for USB3, Thunderbolt or SATA3 (I technically *could* use it, but the benefits are marginal), which makes a new motherboard a waste of money.

I do need my remaining Vertex 2 to die within a couple of months though, otherwise the 3-year warranty will expire and I can't get another free upgrade Laughing

No I like this machine but I want to upgrade it. I like doing the whole rip out and start over

plus its gonna last me a yonk as a result so i'll be a happy man.
Fact that i've already sold off the old stuff is just a bonus, sure i'm still paying the extra but the fact Ive sold off the old stuff instead of it kicking around in a cupboard for years is an added bonus.

Its been already proven that BF3 is very heavy for CPU, to get steady 60fps in heaviest 64 player maps you will need i7 @ 4.5Ghz (HT on) or SB-E 3930K with HT turned OFF (somehow minimum fps gets fucked on SB-E if you turn on HT, you need use its 6 cores only, probably because the engine cannot handle it properly). BF4 in the other hand will be probably optimized so good on the CPU sides, since its AMD game and those CPUs are shit (also uses those Win 8.1 CPU offload optmizations in DX11.1 or something). Im pretty sure i5-750 would be enough for BF4 to get smooth experience, since that "old" i5 has still better single core performance than on the the AMDs best (basically your 4 cores are as good as AMD 8 cores) Laughing

Eh, nope.

I still get over well over 60 FPS even on large-scale 64. The problem is that it spikes up and down between 60 and 90; on smaller maps it goes up and down from 80 to 120.

That's fully maxed out, 4xMSAA, no PPAA, no roflblur.

Well I said multiple times already, that I am CPU limited on some 64 player rounds in certain situations. Both GPU load and farmerite would drop and CPU usage would almost hit the roof. Or at least it was that way - I haven't really checked in a while.

My 2500K + HD7950 w/VirtuMVP averaged over 60 fps on Gulf of Oman with 4xMSAA.
That was at 5GHz.

Well build is finally completed, was a fuckin nightmare (probably getting too old for this) due to no Killer Network drivers for Win 8.1, had to wait on them, and my RAID failing due to a faulty drive.

Board is lightning fast at booting, and I may have quite a decent chip Smile I'm stress testing 4.8 ATM, does 4.6 stable with 1.28v, and temps never above 65c on load, so plenty to spare Wink but I'll be happy if I just get 4.8 regardless.

GPU is sitting at a chilly 19c on idle lol, the water and they angled fans really keep the 780 tamed. Some pics I took for those interested.

The parts:

Case:

Love the adjustable angle fans, keeps my GPU even cooler Smile There are 2 of those but I'm only using one ATM:

My GT's pushing the air through the UT60:

Nearly there:

All running at last:
