I wasn't able to find a thread on the xperia Z

I have a S3 and it's time for an upgrade. I really like the look of the HTC but there have been too many people talking of bad build quality, and it's putting me off.

Does any one here have the xperia Z or has used both, I've seen and used both htc and s4 but never seen the Z in the flesh!

Thoughts?

If you're interested in build quality, the Xperia Z is built VERY well, however, it's a fingerprint magnet, literally. I had it in my hands for about ten minutes and afterwards, I needed to clean since there were all sorts of smudges and fingerprints. The S4 is cheap plastic and feels the worst of the 3. The HTC One has great build quality, I have tried both the black and silver versions, and the only poorly attached part is the upper speaker cover, seeing as how it is specifically built to relieve strain when dropped. The silver one was dropped in the parking lot(gravel and concrete) whilst trying to open the trunk and there is barely a scratch on the upper part (where it fell) and the foil applied over the screen is scratched, but that's about it.

I can confirm what Claude said. I dropped my One 3 times on concrete and it only left barely visible marks. An Xperia would be flying in pieces after one drop.

Also all latest Xperias (Z or no Z, doesn't matter) have the weekest battery among smartphones. To make it last a day you have to turn off all the bells and whistles. Do you really need that? It's a kind of phone you always keep on dock station in your office or car and only carry in your pocket for a couple of hours Very Happy

Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

Ok Xperia crossed of the list..I read it wouldn't last a full day but found it hard to believe. That alone is a no no.

I've an S3 and although the phone has been great, the build quality is shocking. I have scuffs cracks and scratches where i would never have from my old iphones. I look after my phones very well, however it's made no difference with this phone, i'm guessing the S4 won't be much better.

So it's the HTC One then, hopefully i won't be one of the unlucky ones with the build issues.

Thanks Guys

Oh I'm one of those gadget freaks that don't use a phone longer than a couple of months. I had One from May to July.

Great decision mate, although you should know, before you get it, you will not be able to turn off BlinkFeed (it's basically Flipboard but incorporated into a wallpaper, it only takes up one screen).

Also, you really should look into LG G2, if you have the money and would be satisfied with the build quality on it. It's as big as an S4, all the while having a 5.2" screen. And there's barely any bezel to it. Also, Snapdragon 800.

Well, yeah, there's that, but it seems as though the G2 is pretty great. Although I would much rather get the Note 3 if I had the money and had to choose between the two.

Yup, that's what I'm getting next.

How did you find the HTC's sound quality and volume on it's external speakers Waargh. I've read it's one of the best found on a mobile device.

Yes, it handles well anything from dubstep to jazz if we're talking about ringtones. I never listen to music over the built-in speaker - got a Jabra Solemate and Jabra Revo for that (bluetooth).
