I made a stupid decision
Spoiler: | I finished the game
Does the story change depending on who you side with etc? I found myself often clueless about what's really going on, the judge (law) died and the sheriff too, I never liked them but did they have any missions that are worthwhile?
I don't know about you guys but none of my 14 survivors died and morale was always high, always had good supplies and didn't even have to move from the church.
Did I miss something? |

No, no, no, no, no. Also their deaths are scripted, you can't do anything about it. Its part of the story.

Picked up a .44 revolver and a M1 garand from a gunstore, was quite a mistake because the accuracy is impossible.
Tried shooting at a feral and a horde of zombies but not a single bullet hit, aiming is also impossible since the shot is always to the side of the crosshair but even when the bullet appeared to hit all that happened was a impact decal behind the zombie or on the ground nearby, no damage to the actual enemy.
Ended up being ripped in half by that feral due to that but luckily I managed to press ALT-F4 so when I next resumed it didn't save so I was back to base alive and with only a few minutes of progress lost.

Commit to it!
The only way to play currently with Somewhat smooth mouse shooting is holding left trigger of controller and aiming with mouse and of course anticipating the offset (quite some trouble, but hey it's early access ).
Controller is too crap to shoot with in my opinion Sure it works but you don't see me cutting grass with hair clippers either

Heh well I didn't want to lose the main guy, there's only three in total from what I can tell so I'm trying to avoid any of the playable characters dying, I don't care about the others so far.
(Marcus, Ed and that girl you rescue early on or at least those are the only playable characters I've found so far.)

I'll try that the next time, shooting was impossible but this might help with aiming.
I'm going to try to find a full auto rifle and see if it's possible to hit a horde of zombies with that, maybe a shotgun would work as well.
(Or a grenade launcher, but I've already confirmed that those work thanks to the explosive radius, same with grenades and molotov's which are essential for clearing out zombies stuck in furniture and such since you can't hit those with melee or ranged weapons otherwise, makes some of the infestation missions impossible so I always carry a few.)
EDIT: Oh and yeah I lost the church this morning for some reason, everyone has re-located to a burning barrel near the second town and there's no casualties but since it's classed as a outpost and not a home nothing can be done to improve it though thankfully the upgrades from the church are still in effect so we have a infirmary and workshop.

I posted a solution for the uncalibrated crosshair a few pages back mate.

It has better graphics and a higher framerate, but the game itself is the same.

Buy it. The game is fantastic, even playing on a controller.

Name me a game that doesn't All games end up being repetitive... racing games just have you racing round the same few tracks, against the same few cars, listening to the same music. Fighting games have you fighting the same characters, in the same stages with the same music. I don't know any game that doesn't get repetitive towards the end At least with this game it's EXPECTED. It's a survival simulation Find a base, hunker down, send out troops to forage for supplies, survive, expand population, find larger base, rinse, repeat. The only thing that changes is the rudimentary story.. and so far everyone is shouting for a sandbox/free-roam mode to make it even MORE repetitive

Since using a controller on any pc game equates to a console port to me...I shall wait for K&M mode or not play if it never happens.
